The Test button flashes red and emits an audible signal.
The other interconnected detectors activate their audible
signal. Use this test to familiarise children with the audible
signal and tell them what to do if a fire breaks out in your home
(see "What to do in case of fire" below). Also remember to
carry out this test after a long absence.
Test with detector test spray (optional test)
Once or twice a year, you can test the operation of the detector
using a test spray. See Figure 8.
Cleaning
See Figure 9.
•
A: Dust the fins using a vacuum cleaner or antistatic cloth.
•
B: Clean the entire detector using a slightly damp cloth or
sponge.
We recommend that you carry out this cleaning procedure at
least twice a year.
The detector must be kept in a clean environment (without any
build-up of dust, cobwebs, etc.) so that smoke can enter the
detector.
The detector must not be painted.
What to do in case of fire
When a fire is detected, remain calm. Evacuate the premises
as quickly as possible. If that is not possible, take shelter in a
smoke-free location and lie on the floor so that you can
breathe.
Call the emergency services by dialling 112.
