Leave the door open 12 in. and allow
the start-up fuel to burn until the
kindling and starter pieces are burning

Close the door and slide baffle rod
and allow the fire to burn until there
is a layer of coals over the bottom of
the stove

• 5 Wadded Up Pieces of Newspaper
• 8 Pieces of Dry Kindling
• 4 Pieces of Seasoned Split Wood
• 1/2 lb of Small Dry Kindling

Configure the Fuel in Six Layers as Follows:

Position two kindling pieces side to side

Position two larger starter pieces front to
back and one kindling piece between the
starter pieces front to back

Position two larger starter pieces side to side
and one kindling piece between the starter
pieces side to side

Add crumpled newspaper and ½ lb. of small
kindling sticks as the top layer.

Rake Embers to create a level bed on
the bottom of stove.
