Common Rail Injectors
Back Lift Control
New tool kit for checking the back lift of the
Common Rail injectors directly on the car.
The kit is composed by 6 traditional burettes and
6 special burettes studied for control the back
lift of the injectors mounted on the Mercedes
Engines. (The burette is used to measure the
backflow lift of the injectors.)
Instructions:
1. Position the measuring tool by connecting the
support bracket to the hood of the car in a
manner that the six burettes stay as possible.
2. Empty the burettes of any Diesel residue left
from a possible previous operation, and ensure
that the caps are tightly closed.
3. Locate the electro-injectors and detach all the
retrieval joints connected to them, by remov-
ing the peg that blocks the joints in place and
being careful not to lever on the small tubes
of the joints.
4. Close the retrieval tube of the electro-
injectors with a clamp so as to isolate all
possible Diesel discharges.
5. Connect the measuring tools joints to all the
electro-injectors that are present in the car,
paying special attention to reinserting the
pegs correctly.
6. Turn the key to the "ON" position and check
for any possible diesel oil leak.
7. Start the engine and bring it to a speed of
2500 revolutions per minute for at least two
minutes, checking the amount of Diesel that is
discharged.
8. Turn of the engine and check the amount of
Diesel that has been discharged and has
filled the connected burettes. As previously
explained, the amount of Diesel retreived
must be identical for all the injectors during
one test. In case a difference is found, even
if relevant to only one injector, it indicates
a malfunction and determines substution or
revision of the electro-injectors in a special-
ised center.
9. Disconnect the Rail Tester's yellow joints from
the electro-injectors, remove the clamps,
reconnect the original joints of the retrieval
system and empty the burettes.
