Mounting Instruction
Device: Converter 160899
Applications:
Voltage converter – plugging-adapter to supply
a 12V- trailer from a 24V trailer socket.
The converter is solely suitable for electric light
bulbs!
Configuration:
TRAIL CON 7
Type: 160899
Input: 7-contact connector 24V ISO 1158
Output: 13-contact socket 12V ISO 11446
6 x 70Watt, maximum 220Watt
Installation:
The converter has to be connected with the
24Volt contact socket of the trailer. The flap
has to lock the adapter to avoid a release of the
adapter while driving. Also the connector of the
trailer has to be fixed by the socket flap.
Attention:
Make sure that tilting out of the trailer or its
extensions, the connector will not be pushed
aside or the cable will not be pulled.
Hint:
Usually the adapter gets along with all light-
circuit-controls. In ancient electro-mechanic
flasher units, which were applied until about
1996, possibly the trailer-control-lamp does not
act, thus the faultless function of the flashers.
This error is not a defect of the converter, but
an inevitable incompatibility of the applied
principle of the converter with magnetic
currentsensors.
In that case the converter may not be applied.
Then you can apply the converter for fix
mounting, 160901, this is also a converter out of
our product range.
The converter is solely suitable for electric light
bulbs. LED rear lamps may work in nearly all
cases. The left side rear lamp and the right
side rear lamp may not be connected on
the trailer. The connection of other electrical
device is not allowed and can cause damage.
Defects:
All converter junctions are electrically
completely separated. They have got no own
connection to ground. Consequently function
tests have to be executed with a base load
of 5Watt. Multi meters then only show values
between 6 and 11 Volt direct voltage. This value
is not correct, because the converter transmits
the 24 Volt-voltage 'fragmented' to the electric
light bulbs
and the meter cannot show the absorbed power
of the lightning bulbs. A perfect meter should
show exactly 25% of the input power.
Each line is protected against short circuits and
overheating. The reset happens automatically
after the lapse of the cause of error.
