Carburetor adjustment

The carburetor adjustment screw (Q) must be adjusted
so that the engine responds promptly to sudden
accelerations and runs reliably at low speed.
The idle speed screw (P) must be adjusted to ensure a
good safety margin between idle rotation and clutch
engagement.

Checking and replacing the spark plug

To ensure a proper engine operation, the spark plug
must be clean and with adequate distance between the
electrodes.
There are several factors that can affect the operation
of the spark plug: incorrect carburetor adjustment and
fuel mixture, and dirty air filter. These factors cause
deposits in the spark plug electrodes, which leads to
operating problems and difficult starting.
If the earth auger is running low or has difficulty
starting, check the spark plug before making any further
checks.
1. Remove the cap, unscrew the spark plug with the
supplied wrench and check if it is clean. If dirty, clean
the soot with a brush;
2. If the spark plug is "wet", with excess fuel, place a
clean cloth over the spark plug hole and pull the starter
handle several times without the spark plug installed;
3. Measure the distance between the electrodes with
appropriate tools. The distance should be between
0.6-0.7 mm. If necessary, bend the electrode until it has
enough gap.
4. Place the spark plug with your hand to prevent
damage to the thread and tighten in order to compress
the sealing gasket, using the wrench provided;
5. If the spark plug does not produce any sparks, replace
it;
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the
engine.
36
Always use the type of spark plug recommended
by the manufacturer (VIVELA5510). An incorrect
use of a spark plug can damage the cylinder.

Gearbox

Replace the gearbox oil for every 100 working hours.

Lubrification

The earth auger does not require regular lubrication;
however, the gearbox and rotation shaft grease must be
checked frequently for a longer service life.

Maintenance and cleaning

Storage and cleaning
Preparing storage for long periods is vital to avoid
problems and increase the service life of the auger.
Never store the tool with petrol in the tank. Depending
on the region and storage conditions, petrol can
deteriorate and oxidize, causing damages in the
carburetor and fuel system, difficult starts and clogging
caused by particle accumulation.
Before storage proceed as follows:
1. Remove the petrol from the tank;
2. Start the engine until it stops due to lack of fuel;
3. Remove the spark plug and add 2-stroke engine oil (5-
10 cl) to the cylinder through the spark plug orifice;
4. Place a clean cloth over the spark plug orifice and pull
the starter handle to dispense the oil throughout the
cylinder;
5. Pull the starter handle slowly while feeling some
resistance. The piston rises and the intake and exhaust
valves are closed. Leaving the engine in this position will
help protect against internal corrosion;
6. Reinstall the spark plug;
