1 Decalcification
ATTENTION: Only use ZWILLING Universal Descaler for descaling the appliance. If other
products are used, ZWILLING will not accept any liability for consequential damage.
Depending on the water hardness, scale accumulates in the device. Scale on the heating
elements increases the brewing time and the power consumption and reduces the brewing tem-
perature, which impairs the taste of the coffee. Descale the coffee machine as soon as the
symbol flashes. If descaling is required, the coffee machine will only permit another 10 brewing
cycles in order to prevent damage.
Fill the tank with 1 l of water and descaler in the ratio indicated on the package. Place the
empty thermos jug under the filter holder. Turn the button all the way to the left. "CLN" (clean)
will appear. Press the button. The coffee machine beeps once and descales for up to 15 minutes
(see the "Settings" section for instructions on turning the beeper on/off). Then the coffee machine
beeps three times, and the
filter holder and the thermos jug with water. Fill the tank with fresh water up to the MAX mark,
place the empty thermos jug under the filter holder and start a brewing process without coffee
powder and without filter.
