The Retrospective 1979 S is a 2-way speaker
with a bass-midrange driver, a tweeter with
integrated sound guide and a passive cone.
Despite its compact dimensions, the smallest
member of the popular Retrospective speaker
family has very good bass capability and a
balanced sound image. Designed as a wall-
mounted speaker, the 1979 S is also ideally
suited as a desktop and shelf speaker due to
its excellent near-field characteristics. The 1979
S will be particularly interesting for all home
cinema fans and multi-channel sound lovers,
because it opens up completely new surround
perspectives and combination possibilities
as a rear speaker extension for Retrospective
1977 MKII and 1978 MKII. Thanks to its precise
response and good level stability for its size,
the 1979 S sounds extremely lively and can
easily supply smaller rooms with sound, even
as a stereo pair. If the Retrospective 1979 S
is used as a rear speaker, 20 to 30 watts per
channel at 4 ohms are sufficient. If you want to
use the speakers in a 5.1 setup, make sure that
you select the speaker size "Small" or "Normal"
in the settings of your AV receiver.
