Section 7. General Troubleshooting

Problem
Chlorine level too low
Chlorine level too high
pH level is too low
pH level too high
pH alert LED blinking
(pH is lower than 6.9
or higher than 8.1)
Possible Cause
ORP set level is too low.
Saltwater chlorinator issue.
Daily filtration time too low.
Sensor malfunction.
pH too low (leading to high ORP value
even with a low chlorine concentration)
ORP set level is too high.
Sensor tip is dirty.
pH too high. The chlorine concentration
needed to reach the ORP setpoint is high.
pH set level is too low.
pH dose time too high.
pH sensor malfunction.
Alkalinity too low.
Incorrect Muriatic Acid dilution
pH Sensor tip is dirty.
Improper pH sensor calibration.
pH chemical feeder is empty.
Feed pump malfunction.
pH dose time too low.
Alkalinity too high.
Problem with acid supply.
Controller undershooting set level.
Manual addition.
Controller overshooting set level.

Check chlorine level with test kit and adjust
ORP set level as necessary.
Check the saltwater chlorinator and its cell.
Increase daily filtration time.
Clean or replace the sensor.
Adjust pH to a value between 7.2 and 7.6
Check chlorine and cyanuric acid levels
with test kit and adjust set level as
necessary.
Clean according to maintenance
instructions.
Measure the pH of the water. Check, clean
or replace the pH sensor if needed.
Check pH level with test kit and adjust set
level as necessary.
Reduce pH dose time (seconds).
Calibrate, clean or replace the pH sensor.
Check and adjust alkalinity.
Dilute muriactic acid (4:1 dilution)
Clean according to maintenance
instructions.
Adjust pH calibration.
Refill the feeder.
Repair the feed pump.
Increase dose time (seconds).
Check and adjust alkalinity.
Verify the acid tank is not empty.
Increase dosing time.
Verify the acid was not manually added.
1) Dilute acid with water, or
2) Lower dosing time.
