When battery pack is not in use, keep it
away from other metal objects, like paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other
small metal objects, that can make a con-
nection from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may
cause burns or a fire.
■
Under abusive conditions, liquid may be
ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If
contact accidentally occurs, flush with
water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally
seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
■
Do not use a battery pack or tool that is
damaged or modified. Damaged or modi-
fied batteries may exhibit unpredictable be-
haviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of
injury.
■
Do not expose a battery pack or tool to
fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to
fire or temperature above 130 °C may cause
explosion.
■
Follow all charging instructions and do
not charge the battery pack or tool out-
side the temperature range specified in
the instructions. Charging improperly or at
temperatures outside the specified range
may damage the battery and increase the
risk of fire.

Service

■
Have your power tool serviced by a quali-
fied repair person using only identical re-
placement parts. This will ensure that the
safety of the power tool is maintained.

Never service damaged battery packs.
Service of battery packs should only be per-
formed by the manufacturer or authorized
service providers.
3.2

Hedge trimmer safety warnings

■
Keep all parts of the body away from the
cutting blade. Do not remove cut material
or hold material to be cut when blades are
moving. The cutting blades continue to move
even after the hedge trimmer has been
switched off. A moment of inattention while
operating the hedge trimmer may result in se-
rious injuries.

Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle
with the cutting blade stopped and take
care not to touch an ON/OFF switch. Care-
ful carrying of the hedge trimmer reduces the
risk of unintentional starting of the appliance

and the resulting risk of injury from the cutting
blades.
■
Always fit the cutting blade cover when
transporting or storing the hedge trimmer.
Careful handling of the hedge trimmer reduce
the risk of injury from the cutting blades.
■
Ensure that all ON/OFF switches are OFF
and that the mains plug is removed before
removing trapped cut material or servic-
ing the appliance. Unexpected starting of
the hedge trimmer while removing trapped
cut material or during service work may result
in serious injuries.
■
Hold the hedge trimmer only at the insu-
lated handles as the cutting blades may
contact hidden wiring or its own power
cable. Cutting blades contacting a "live" wire
can result in electric current flowing through
metal parts of the hedge trimmer, leading to
an electric shock.
■
Keep all mains cables and wires out of the
cutting area. Mains cables or wires may be
concealed in hedges or bushes and thus be
inadvertently severed by the cutting blades.
■
Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad
weather, especially when there is a risk of
lightning. This reduces the risk of being
struck by lightning.

Vibration load

Danger due to vibration
The actual magnitude of the vibration emis-
sions during the use of the appliance may de-
viate from that stated by the manufacturer.
Observe the following influencing factors be-
fore or during use:

Is the appliance being used as intended?
■
Is the material being cut or processed in
the proper manner?
■
Is the appliance in a proper condition of
use?
■
Is the cutting tool properly sharpened or
is the correct cutting tool installed?
■
Are the handle grips and any optional vi-
bration grips mounted, and are they firm-
ly attached to the appliance?
■
Only operate the tool at the motor speed re-
quired for the respective work. Avoid using
the maximum speed in order to reduce noise
and vibrations.
■
The noise and vibrations of the tool may in-
crease due to improper use and mainte-
