3) Personal safety
a) Always pay close attention to what you are doing. Use your common sense
and do not use a tool if you are not concentrating. Never use the electric tool
when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.
Just one moment of carelessness while operating an electric tool can lead to
serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear safety eye protection. Protective devices
such as face masks, non-slip safety footwear, a safety helmet or ear defenders
reduce the possibility of personal injury.
c) Avoid switching on the tool by accident. Make sure the switch is in the OFF
position before connecting to the mains power supply or battery packs, and
before picking it up or carrying it. Carrying electric tools with one finger on the
switch or connecting them to the mains with the switch in the ON position can
lead to accidents.
d) Remove any adjuster key before switching on the electric tool. A key left at-
tached to a part of the electric tool that rotates can lead to personal injury.
e) Do not lean over. Always maintain a balanced position and a firm footing. This
give you best control of the tool in unexpected situations.
f) Wear appropriate work clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep
hair, clothes and gloves well away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery
and long hair can become entangled in the moving parts.
g) If there are devices to be connected to dust extraction and collection systems,
make sure they are connected and used in the correct way. Using such devices
can reduce the risks associated with dust.
h) Do not allow over confidence with the tool, developed by frequent use, to com-
promise the safety rules. Negligent use can lead to a series of injuries, even in
a fraction of a second.
4. Using and maintaining electric tools
a ) Do not force the electric tool. Use the right tool for the job. The correct electric
tool allows the job to be carried out more efficiently and safely while remaining
within the intended parameters of use.
b) Do not use the electric tool if the ON/OFF switch does not work properly. Any
electric tool that cannot be controlled by the switch is dangerous and must be
repaired immediately.
c) Unplug electric tools and/or remove the battery unit from battery-powered
tools before performing adjustments, changing accessories or putting the tool
away. These preventive safety measures reduce the risk of the tool being started
accidentally.
