2.2 Using the built-in USB port

The EM3991 is equipped with an additional USB port which can be used to power
USB devices. Since the USB port of the EM3991 supplies 5 Volts DC at 500mA,
mobile phones, MP3 players, portable gaming devices and other devices can be
charged using the USB port of the EM3991.

2.3 Hints for optimal battery usage

Your EM3991 uses power from the battery it is connected to.
A fully charged car battery (rated 40Ah) can power a 150W device for approximately 2
hours. More powerful batteries allow for extended usage of the connected device.
It is not recommended to fully discharge the battery, as this will shorten the lifespan of
the battery.
To establish the amount of hours you can use a certain device, you can use the
following formula:
8 x Battery capacity / usage in Watt = number of hours
Example: 40Ah Battery, device uses 150 Watts:
8 x 40 / 150 = approximately 2.13 hours
The maximal Wattage you can use on the EM3991 depends on the rating of the fuse
used between the battery and cigarette lighter. If this fuse is rated too low, using the
full 150 Watts will cause the fuse to blow. For example: a 30 Amps fuse can be used
with devices up to 300 Watts.
