The "SELF-ALIGNMENT" menu can be used after programming all the clusters. That way, the Profiler unit will
automatically calculate the powers of each input channel and set the values of all gains, such as the initial
dynamics, the cell gain and the final gain. Therefore, the noise figure of each cluster will be optimized and
the signal's output level and the cells' output level will be equalized automatically.
After performing the self-alignment, each gain value (dynamics and gain of each cell) of the UHF inputs can
be changed by means of the "UHFx INPUT" menu; the gain value of the other inputs can be changed by
following the instructions in paragraph 5.3.2.
Attention: if a lower case D or A appears within the cluster indication, it means that the clusters have a low
input level and that they will not be aligned to the output level of the other clusters.
To change the output level, regulate the final gain ("FINAL GAIN" menu) as described within the following
paragraph.
Note:
The self-alignment algorithm does not consider the input signal given in the B.III, FM and AUX ports;
that is why the self-alignment must be performed when the above-mentioned inputs have not yet been
connected because a signal given in the input (i.e. AUX) may affect the measurement of the output level
of a few cells.
The regulation of the input dynamics (level) of these ports must be carried out as described within
paragraph 5.3.2, by considering the possible problems relevant to a too high input level in the above-
mentioned inputs (i.e. intermodulation);

Advanced programming

To perform an optimal alignment, after performing the self-alignment, proceed as follows:
1.
Check the quality of the output signal from the Profiler unit by analyzing the presence of holes or tilts in
the spectrum caused by the addition in the counterphase of the cell signals.
2.
If the previous check is not successful for all the active cells, change the channel position among the
various cells or change the cell dimensions (e.g. number of channels associated with the cell) and per-
form the self-alignment again.
3.
Modify the value of the input dynamics and find the best compromise between the output level and the
quality of each channel.
