7. Getting started and use
• Remove the protective film from the display.
• Plug the connector for the sensor cable into the socket. Make sure the polarity
is correct.
• Cut approximately 2 cm long strip of the foam tape.
• Glue the foam strip to the vacuum bag.
• Insert the probe through the foam strip into the food at a 90° angle and at
least 2 cm to measure its core temperature.
• When preparing steaks: Insert the probe horizontally from the side.
• When preparing meat: Push the probe into the middle of the thickest part, for
poultry between the torso and the thigh; it should touch neither bones nor
cartilage and should not protrude from the meat.
• Caution: The needle probe must remain inserted in the food during the
entire cooking process, as air and water could otherwise enter the pouch
and the vacuum in the pouch could be lost.
• Press the ON/HOLD button.
• The actual core temperature is displayed.
• To activate the hold function press the ON/HOLD button.
• HOLD appears on the display. The actual measured temperature remains on
the display.
• Press the °C/°F button in the HOLD mode to change between °C (Celsius) or
°F (Fahrenheit) as temperature unit.
• In the HOLD mode, the device will turn off automatically after 15 seconds.
• To deactivate the HOLD function, press the ON/HOLD button again.
• The device will turn off automatically after approx. 4 minutes.
• Use the integrated magnet at the back of the device to place it on metal sur-
faces.
8. Care and maintenance
• Clean the device with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring
agents.
• Remove the battery if you do not use the device for a long period of time.
• Keep the device in a dry place.
• Should water or steam enter the device's jack, it could affect the contact with
the probe. Dry the probe connector with a cloth before you connect it to your
instrument.
