COMPRESSED AIR FILTER SYSTEM
CLEARFLOW 2
Before using for the first time, read these instructions carefully and fully
These instructions for use concern only Clearflow 2 compressed air filter system.
CATEGORY OF USE
The Clearflow 2 compressed air filter range has been developed by Sperian to deliver high quality breathable
air to a range of supplied air respirator systems.
Air is taken from the factory compressed air system and particulates, bulk oil and water are removed by the
coalescing filter.
Where the removal of oil vapour and odour is necessary the use of a carbon adsorber filter is required.
The Cleaflow 2 range is available in wall mounted and portable stand versions.

Installation of wall mounted systems.
NU108-02
Wall mounted systems require some assembly by the user before they are put into service (please refer to the
1763346
08/02
product drawing):
The isolation valve (2) must be added and tightened so that the control lever moves vertically.
The pressure gauge (8) must be added and tightened so that it can be read conveniently.
The outlet connectors (9a/9b) must be added and tightened so that they are in vertical alignment.
Screw the fully assembled filter system to a flat wall near to the working area at a convenient height.
.
Remember to leave enough clearance underneath the system to allow for filter elements (10 & 12) to be
withdrawn and changed.
At the inlet connect the factory compressed air system to the Isolating Valve (2) with a ½ " BSP male threaded
connector. From the Quick Release outlets (9a/9b) connect to the respirator using the hoses specified in the
User Instructions supplied with that device.
Installation of portable stand mounted systems.
The portable stand allows the user to have freedom of movement in the workplace. Connect to the Isolating
Valve (2) using a ½ " BSP male threaded connector. For the flexible supply hose joining the system to the
factory compressed air system, select a hose with an internal diameter of 14 mm (1/2"). From the Quick
Release outlets (9a/9b) connect to the respirator using the hoses specified in the User Instructions supplied
with that device.
Controlling the air pressure.
It is recommended that the filter air supply be turned on slowly (2) to prevent a surge of air at the inlet port.
This can cause the Differential Pressure Indicator (6) to read incorrectly.
The air pressure in the system can be monitored using the Pressure Gauge (8) located at the system outlet
and is adjusted by the use of the manual pressure Regulator (7), push knob downwards to lock the setting.
The working pressure is set according to the User Instructions supplied with your respiratory device, up to a
maximum of 7 bar (102psi).
Filter element replacement.
WARNING: The air supply to the filter system must be turned off, at the Isolation Valve (2), when replacing
filter elements (10 & 12).
Coalescing filter element.
The filter element (10) should be replaced when indicated by the Differential Pressure Indicator (6) or after
1,000 hours service, whichever occurs first.
To gain access to the Filter Element (10) push upwards on the Filter Holder (11) and turn anti-clockwise – the
complete filter holder assembly can now be withdrawn. Replace the filter and reassemble in the reverse order.
