To reduce your exposure to these chemicals, wear approved safety equipment such as dust
masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
CAUTION: Wear appropriate personal hearing protection during use. Under some
conditions and duration of use, noise from this product may contribute to
hearing loss.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARING TO OPERATE:
• Line the axle with the center hole in the wheel and press to end (Fig.1A).
• Slide the assembled wheel and axle through the axle hole in the unit.
• Lay unit on it's side and press other wheel on (Fig. 1B).
• Remove the hinged inlet cover (DO NOT DETACH FROM UNIT) from the handle
mounting hole (Fig. 2A).
• Push handle into handle mounting hole until handle locks (Fig. 2B),
• Push the power connector into the unit, it's locking tab will lock it to the unit (Fig. 2C).
AUXILIARY HANDLE (Installed on handle tube):
• Push collar into auxiliary handle (Fig. 3A).
• Press auxiliary handle with installed collar onto handle tube and slide spacer (Figure 3B)
into position. Install bolt through spacer and assemble the wing nut (do not tighten). Slide
auxiliary handle to comfortable working position and tighen wing nut (Fig. 3B).
SWITCH:
A SWITCH LOCKING BUTTON is provided on the top of the handle as a safety feature.

Please note the following very carefully.
1. TO TURN TOOL "ON" (Fig. 4) slide the locking button "A" FORWARD with your thumb,
and hold it FORWARD momentarily, while you squeeze the trigger switch "B". Release
Locking Button. The trigger has been designed so that it is very easy to hold in the "ON"
position.
2. TO TURN TOOL "OFF" just release the trigger.
REMOVING HANDLE:
• Remove the power connector by pressing the locking tab (Fig. 5A).
• Depress locking button (Fig. 5B) and slide handle out of the unit.
HANDLE INDEXING:
• Handle turns every 45º relative to your tool.
To turn handle, depress locking button, slide the handle slowly out of the unit to
disengage the locking tabs in the housing and turn to the desired angle. Slide the handle
back into the unit until handle locks into unit.
USE OF YOUR UNIT:
• The UPRIGHT HANDLE installed on either the SHEAR GS500 or SHRUBBER DS600 may
be used to extend your tool's reach in all directions, including overhead.
• Reverse the orientation of the auxiliary handle on the tube (Figure 3D) for overhead
operation.
WARNING:
Before using the Shrubber or Shear overhead, check that there are no power lines in the
area of trimming.

Full Two-Year Home Use Warranty
Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. warrants this product for two years against any defects in
material or workmanship. The defective product will be replaced or repaired at no charge
in either of two ways:
The first, which will result in exchanges only, is to return the product to the retailer from
whom it was purchased (provided that the store is a participating retailer). Returns should
be made within the time period of the retailer's policy for exchanges (usually 30 to 90 days
after the sale). Proof of purchase may be required. Please check with the retailer for their
specific return policy regarding returns that are beyond the time set for exchanges.
The second option is to take or send the product (prepaid) to a Black & Decker owned or
Authorized Service Center for repair or replacement at our option. Proof of purchase may
be required. Black & Decker owned and Authorized Service Centers are listed under
"Tools-Electric" in the yellow pages of the phone directory.
This warranty does not apply to accessories. This warranty gives you specific legal rights
and you may have other rights which vary from state to state. Should you have any
questions, contact the manager of your nearest Black & Decker Service Center.
