1 Introduction

The Vetus Weatherstation is a program which enables users to

present windspeed and winddirection parameters on their PCs.

The Vetus Weatherstation has been especially developed to

equip both new and existing wind stations with the latest devel-

opments in the field of meteorology and computer software.

Nowadays it is hard to imagine meteorological data not being

stored, presented and processed via the computer. It is impor-

tant to follow any developments in the computer world closely,

and to respond quickly to any changes. Many companies have

changed to new operating systems, such as Windows95/98 or

WindowsNT. For this target group, Vetus has developed new

software, which is flexible and can be adjusted according to

customer specification.

The Vetus Weatherstation has four important functions:

• Presentation

• Alarms

• Data Storage

• Distribution

The software is intended to use with the Vetus WSD802 sensor.

The WSD802 sensor can be connected to the RS232/RS422

port to a PC on which the Vetus Weatherstation v1.0 has been

installed. Another option is that data arrive via a modem, a

transmitting / receiving system or any other communication sys-

tem that can transfer the WSD802 data.
