Definition of measurement categories
Measurement category II:
Measurements taken on the circuits connected directly to the low-voltage mains by
plugs. Typical short-circuit current < 10 kA
Measurement category III:
Measurements performed on the installation of buildings (stationary consumers with
non-pluggable connection, connection to the distribution board, build-in devices in the
distribution board).
Typical short-circuit current < 50 kA
Measurement category IV:
Measurements on the source of the low voltage installation (meter, main connection,
primary overcurrent protection). Typical short-circuit current > 50 kA
