The displayed value indicates how many grams of salt per litre are in the water.
So with a measured value of 34 ppt, for example, the salt content is 34 grams per litre.
TI P: The natural value for the salinity in sea water is between 34 - 35,5 g per litre, depending on the
area. This natural value is very stable. Therefore, a stable value is also important in the reef aquarium.
Depending on requirements, the value can now be adjusted to the natural conditions.
For example 150 litres aquarium:
Measured value = 33 ppt corresponds to 33 g salt content per litre.
Now the value can be increased to e.g. 35 g salt content per litre.
33 g/litre 35 g/litre target value = + 2 g salt/litre
2 g x 150 litres = 300 g
In the aquarium should be added 300 g for the optimum value.
1-2 hours after the addition, check the salt content again and add more if necessary.
TI P: Salt mixtures have a different salt content (moisture content) therefore always check the salinity after
some time. Fauna Marin PROFESSIONAL SEA SALT needs 38-39 g/litre to reach 35 ppt salinity.
