Two demagnetisation modes are available with the DEGAUSS mode:
1 Before welding, the complete demagnetisation, which consists of applying a decreasing alternating magnetic field to
the part to be welded and thus effecting a magnetic reset of the part. This demagnetisation method is optimal but finds
its limits on long parts such as pipes where it becomes complicated to ensure demagnetisation along the entire length
of the part without a high degree of expertise.
During welding, the compensation (local demagnetisation) is recommended for long workpieces and allows, close to

the weld bead to be made, to cancel the magnetic induction by applying an inverse and compensating field maintained
during welding. During the welding of the root pass, it will be necessary to check and adjust the compensation because
the magnetic induction of the workpiece will tend to change as the bead is produced.
