This mower can be used both as a mulch mower (recycling mower) and also as a classical, conventio-
nal lawnmower with discharge at the back.
What is mulching?
The specially shaped mower blades cut the grass, shred it into a fine grass mass and blow it back onto
the grassed surface to decompose.
The cuttings do not need to be collected - a grass box is not needed. Mulching is therefore mowing, dis-
posal of the cuttings and fertiliser in one course of work. The mulch layer protects the ground against dry-
ing out and also provides it with nutrients.
Information and tips about mulch mowing
As in normal mowing, a sharp blade is a prerequisite for mulching.
The grass to be cut should not be more than 8 cm high.
The best results in mulch mowing are achieved by regular cutting back by about 2 cm from 6 to 4 cm.
More frequent mowing than in conventional treatment can therefore become necessary. Only young grass
with soft leaf tissue decomposes quickly. Therefore, do not mow more than 4 cm.
Mulch mowing is particularly recommended during the summer months.
Adapt your walking speed to the mulching - do not walk too quickly - and set the maximum engine speed
so that the mulching blade can shred the grass as well as possible.
Operating
For mulch mowing, the grass box must be removed and the locking wedge pushed into the discharge
channel.
Never open the discharge flap or remove the locking wedge while the engine is running.
!
1. Stop the engine and wait until the blade has come to a standstill - pull out the mains plug
or the ignition plug.
2. Lift the discharge flap. Push the locking wedge into the discharge channel (Figure 1).
Lock the locking wedge with the housing.
The projection on the base of the handle of the locking wedge must engage with the recess
on the housing (Figure 2).
Allow the discharge flap to drop.
If the locking wedge is not engaged, it may be touched by the mowing blade in an unfa-
!
vourable position.
After each mulch mowing, clean grass residue and dirt off the interior of the housing, in particular
the discharge channel and the locking wedge.
Dirt sticking to the inside of the housing alters the flow of air and impairs the mulching.
Mowing with the grass box
After removing the locking wedge and inserting the grass box, the mower can also be used as a normal
lawnmower.
1. Stop the engine and wait until the blade has come to a standstill - pull out the mains plug
or the ignition plug.
2. Lift the discharge flap. Unlock the locking wedge by lifting on the housing an remove it
(Figure 3).
3. Insert the grass box - lock the discharge flap.
