Procedure, in case of cut problems
If you can not cut the fiber, check:
1.
Both fiber protections (900 and 250 microns) are correctly removed
by the stripping tool.
2.
The blade is not worn or marked (it is possible to have control over
the number of cuts, based on the splice counter available in the
splicer).
3.
The height of the blade is correct (the blade must protrude minimally
on the fiber supporting rubbers).
If the fiber is shattered in the cutting process, check:
The blade height. If it excedes too much the fiber supporting rubbers,
it will cause the mentioned anomaly. To control that the height is not
excessive, place an element that forms a straight line between both
rubbers. The correct height of the blade will be the one which rubs this
element, being this element placed over the rubbers.
If the cut has an excessive angle, check:
The fiber placed on the cleaver does not make an angle with the rubber
mounts. The said angle could lead to problems when splicing (greater
cutting angle). The fiber must be placed over both rubber mounts
forming a straight line between them. The picture shown below is a
sample of how the fiber should NOT be placed.
To correct this, rotate the fiber over itself until the natural curve of
the fiber is down and, therefore, the fiber maintains a straight line
betweenboth rubber mounts:

Deformed blade
Blade too high

Maintenance and adjustment

Fiber optic cleaver maintenance
To mantain an excellent quality of cut cleaning, it is advisable to clean
(regularly with a cotton swab moistened in isopropyl alcohol):
- The edge of the cutting blade.
- The 4 rubber protection pads located on the blade sides.
- The diverse support guides for the fiber.

Blade height adjustment
Using a cross-head screwdriver (select the adequate thickness, avoiding
to damage the cover), act on the screw located at the bottom of the
container for fibers.
1. Remove the container for fibers.
2. Loosen phillips screws (A) (do not remove these screws).
3. Push the blade slider to leave in sight the allen screws (seen from
above).
4. The screw (B) is the one that has to be used to set the blade height.
If the screw (B) is tighten, it will go up. If the screw (B) is loose, the
blade will go down (make use of a flat screwdriver when pushing
the whole element down to ease this opperation).
5. The screw (C) is the one that acts as a position blocker (once the
height is adjusted, tighten this screw to fix the whole element).
To start the adjustment, the screw (C) has to be, to some extent,
loosen (without reaching the point of the removing of this screw).
6. Tighten phillip screws (A).
