Safety warnings
To handle this product safely it is necessary to read and comply with the
following safety warnings.
1.
Do not grease the blade, this could cause damage to the fiber
opticcleaver.
2.
This is a precission tool, if it falls to the ground it is likely to be
damaged, not making the cuts correctly from that moment.
3.
Do not ever touch the blade with your hands ot other body parts, its
blade edge could make harm to yourself.
4.
The fiber optic cleaver should be stored in its protective case when it
is not in use (avoid storing in humid places).
5.
Do not ever use the fiber optic cleaver in unsafe positions.
6.
Fiber optic and its wastes are extremely dangerous because of their
thin thickness. This situation must be taken into account when
handling the cleaver to avoid harm in hands, eyes, ... Thus, the
workers handling this cleaver must always take precautions such as:
Always handle the device wearing safety glasses.
Collect leftover fibers (after cutting) in a special container.
Do not ever touch the head of a fiber optic cable with your
bare hands.
Do not ever touch the blade directly.
7.
Do not strike the work lever, it could lead the fiber optic cleaver to
lose cutting quality.

Usage procedure
1.
Push the work lever (the fiber optic cleaver will open).
2.
Open the fiber holding flange.
3.
Peel from 30 to 40mm of the fiber that is going to be cut (leave a
fiber thickness around 125 microns). Clean the peeled fiber with an
isopropyl alcohol wipe.
4.
Place the peeled fiber over the guide slot (choose one of the 3, based
on the type of fiber used). The fiber length that must remain after the
cut will depend on the requirements of the fusion splicer or other
equipment of fiber used. The usual value is 16mm, but it can be
adjusted between 5 and 20mm.
5.
Close the fiber holding flange.
6.
Make sure that the fiber is perpendicular to the cutting blade.
7.
Close the work lever.
8.
Move the blade slider up to the limit. The fiber will now be cut.
9.
Push the work lever (the fiber optic cleaver will open). At this point the
leftover fiber should be pushed into the fiber storage container.
10.
Grab the fiber and open the fiber holding flange.
11.
Remove the fiber.
12.
After several operations, it is recommended to empty the fiber
storage container.
