Slide carriage system
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, return Slide Carriage (13) to the full rear
position after each crosscut operation.
1) For chop cutting operations on small workpieces, slide the cutting head assembly
completely toward the rear of the unit and tighten the Slide Carriage Lock Knob
(14)
2) To cut wide boards up to 318mm, the Slide Carriage Lock Knob must be
loosened to allow the cutting head to slide freely
Using the guide fence
WARNING: The Guide Fence (11) must be extended when making any bevel
cut. Failure to extend the Guide Fence will not allow enough space for the Blade (28)
to pass through, which could result in serious injury. At extreme mitre or bevel angles
the saw Blade may also contact the Guide Fence.
1) Unlock the Guide Fence Locking Lever (24) by pushing it toward the rear of the
machine
2) Extend the Guide Fence by sliding it out. Lock the Guide Fence Locking Lever by
pulling it in toward the Guide Fence
Note: When transporting the saw, always secure the Guide Fence in the collapsed
position and lock it.
IMPORTANT: The Guide Fence must be removed when making any right bevel
angle cuts greater than 33.9° in combination with any right or left mitre angle. This
Guide Fence must also be removed when making left bevel cuts greater than 40°
with a mitre angle greater than 31.6°.
Note: Remove the left/right Guide Fence if necessary. See "Guide Fence" section.
Quick-cam locking lever operation (Fig. V)
If mitre angles required are NOT one of the nine positive stops, the Mitre Table (9)
can be locked at any angle between these positive stops by using the Quick-Cam
Locking Lever (6).
1) Unlock the Mitre Table by lifting up on the Quick-cam Locking Lever
2) While holding the Positive Stop Locking Lever (30) up, grasp the Mitre Handle (7)
and move the Mitre Table left or right to the desired angle
3) Release the Positive Stop Locking Lever
4) Press down on the Quick-cam Locking Lever until it locks the Mitre Table in
place.
Note: The Quick-cam Locking Lever should lock the Mitre Table and prevent it from
moving. If adjustment is needed, see the "Quick-cam locking lever adjustment"
section
Mitre Detent Override (Fig. V)
The Mitre Detent Override allows for the Mitre Table (9) to be micro adjusted by
disengaging the positive detent stops feature. When a required mitre angle is close
to a positive detent stop, this override prevents the wedge on the mitre arm from
slipping into that detent slot on the Base (4).
1) Unlock the Mitre Table by lifting the Quick-Cam Locking Lever (6)
Note: The Mitre Handle (7) does not lock or unlock the Mitre Table.
2) While holding the Mitre Handle, pull the Positive Stop Locking Lever (30) up and
press the Mitre Detent Override (8) in, then release the Positive Stop Locking
Lever while holding the Mitre Detent Override in. The detent override is now
engaged
3) Turn the Mitre Table to the desired angle, secure the Mitre Table at the desired
angle by pressing the Quick-cam Locking Lever
4) To disengage the Mitre Detent Override, pull the Quick-cam Locking Lever, pull
the Positive Stop Locking Lever up. This will release the override lock and the
Mitre Table will now stop at the positive detent angles

Mitre cut (Fig. V)
1) Unlock the Mitre Table (9) by lifting up on the Quick-cam Locking Lever (6)
2) While raising the Positive Stop Locking Lever (30) up, grasp the Mitre Handle (7)
and rotate the Mitre Table left or right to the desired angle.
3) Release the Positive Stop Locking Lever and set the Mitre Table at the desired
angle, making sure the lever snaps into place
Note: The lever will only lock into place at one of the nine positive stops
4) Once the desired mitre angle is achieved, press down on the Quick-cam Locking
Lever to secure the Mitre Table into position
5) If the desired mitre angle is NOT one of the nine positive stops noted above,
simply lock the Mitre Table at the desired angle by pressing down on the Quick-
cam Locking Lever
6) Turn the laser guide on and position the workpiece on the Mitre Table for pre-
alignment of your cut
Bevel cut (Fig. VI)
WARNING: The Guide Fence (11) must be extended when making any bevel
cut. Failure to extend the Guide Fence will not allow enough space for the Blade (28)
to pass through, which could result in serious injury. At extreme mitre or bevel angles
the Blade may also contact the Guide Fence.
Extend the Guide Fence by sliding it out to the
required location or remove the left/right Guide Fence if necessary. See "Using the
Guide Fence" or "Guide Fence" sections.
1) When a bevel cut is required, loosen the Bevel Locking Handle (40)
2) Tilt the cutting head to the desired angle, as shown on the bevel scale
3) The Blade can be positioned at any angle, from a 90° straight cut (0° on the
scale) to a 45°. Tighten the Bevel Locking Handle to lock the cutting head in
position. Positive stops are provided at 0°, 33.9° and 45°
Note: The saw comes with a 33.9° bevel detent pin for setting up crown moulding
cuts when the angle of the walls equals 90°
4) Turn the laser guide on and position the workpiece on the Mitre Table (9) for pre-
alignment of your cut
Note: If 47° left bevel is necessary, slide the Bevel Stop Plate (41) clockwise away
from the Stop Block (42) to achieve 47° left bevel.
33.9° Bevel detent pin for crown mouldings (Fig. VII)
1) Push the Bevel Detent Stop Pin (43) in towards the rear of the machine
2) Loosen the Bevel Locking Handle (40)
3) Tilt the cutting head until the Bevel Detent Stop Pin stops the bevel angle at
33.9° on the bevel scale
4) Tighten the Bevel Locking Handle to lock the cutting head in position.
Compound cut
A compound cut is the combination of a mitre and a bevel cut simultaneously.
1) Extend the Guide Fence (11) by sliding it out to the required location or remove
the left/right Guide Fence if necessary. See "Using the Guide Fence" or "Guide
Fence" sections
2) Set the desired mitre angle and lock into position. See "Mitre cut" section
3) Set the desired bevel angle and lock into position. See "Bevel cut" section
Slide cut (Fig. VIII)
WARNING:
To avoid injury
Never pull the cutting head assembly and spinning Blade (28) toward you during
the cut. The Blade may try to climb up on the top of the workpiece, causing the
cutting assembly and spinning Blade to kick back, forcefully. The cutting head
assembly should be drawn back completely then pushed forward when sawing
Let the Blade reach full speed before cutting. This will help reduce the risk of a
thrown workpiece
1) Unlock the Slide Carriage Lock Knob (14) and allow the cutting head assembly to
move freely
2) Set both the desired bevel angle and/or the mitre angle and lock into position
3) Use a Hold-down Clamp (12) to secure the workpiece
4) Turn the laser guide on and position the workpiece on the Mitre Table (9) for pre-
alignment of your cut
5) Grasp the Operating Handle (1) and pull the carriage forward until the centre of
the saw Blade is over the front of the Workpiece (44)
6) Start the saw
7) When the saw reaches full speed, slowly push the Operating Handle down,
cutting through the leading edge of the workpiece
8) Slowly move the Operating Handle back towards the Guide Fence (11),
completing the cut
9) Release the trigger and allow the Blade to stop spinning before raising the cutting
head and removing the workpiece
