Welding produces RAYS that can cause BURNS or BLINDNESS: Scarring of the retina, temporary to permanent
blindness and UV burns.
Welding produces TOXIC FUMES and GASES and can have the following effects: Asphyxiation (lack of oxygen), fire or
explosion, toxicity.
The warnings, cautions and instructions put forth in this instruction manual cannot cover all conditions and situations
that may possibly occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which
can't be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas may cause accidents resulting in serious injuries.
2. Scrutinize your work area conditions. Do not use equipment in damp or wet locations. Do not expose it to the elements.
Always keep work area well lit. Never use equipment in the presence of flammable gases, liquids or heat sources.
3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not allow them to handle any equipment.
4. Store idle equipment. When not in use, equipment must be stored in a dry location to inhibit rust and prevent clutter. Always lock
up equipment and keep out of reach of children.
5. Dress properly and use eye, ear and breathing protection. Always wear impact-resistant safety goggles. Wear a welding
helmet featuring at least a number 10 shade lens rating. Wear a breathing respirator when welding. Wear leather leggings or an
apron and fire resistant safety shoes or boots while welding. Wear welding gloves and protective clothing. Wear an approved head
covering to protect the head and neck. Use aprons, cape, sleeves, shoulder covers and bibs designed and approved for welding
procedures. When welding in confined spaces or overhead, wear flame resistant ear plugs or ear muffs.
6. Use the right tool for the job. Never use equipment or attachment that has not been designed for the application. Do not modify
this equipment and do not use it for a purpose for which it was not intended. Only use this equipment with oxygen and acetylene.
7. Never overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Never reach over or across running machines or hoses.
8. Maintain equipment. Keep equipment clean for better and safer performance. Follow all maintenance procedures.
9. Stay alert. Always watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool when fatigued.
10. Inspect for damaged parts. Inspect equipment and hoses daily and if any part is damaged, have it replaced or repaired by an
authorized specialized service technician. Any part that shows damage should be carefully inspected to determine if it will operate
and perform to its intended function. Check for gas leaks, any broken parts or mounting fixtures and any other condition that may
affect proper operation.
11. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only the manufacturer's identical replacement parts. Only use
accessories intended for use with this piece of equipment.
12. Never operate equipment while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
13. Maintenance and repair. This hose reel has gas-tight parts and a powerful spring. Unskilled repair may render the reel
hazardous or result in an accident causing severe injury or death. For your safety, maintenance and repairs should only be
performed by a qualified technician.
14. Industrial applications must follow OSHA (USA), CCOHS (Canada) guidelines.
HOSE REEL SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS
1. Read all of the instructions and safety warnings provided with your welding tanks, cutting torch and given by the acetylene/oxygen
distributor prior to operation. Also, read all of the instructions and safety precautions as outlined in the manufacturer's manual for the
material you will weld or cut.
2.
Leaks of acetylene and oxygen are extremely hazardous and may result in an explosion and/or fire resulting
in SERIOUS INJURY and DEATH.
Always turn off the gas supply when not in use.
Working pressure on the acetylene regulator must NEVER be set above 15 PSI.
Always use reverse flow check valves on the torch and regulator. This greatly reduces the possibility of mixing gases in the
regulator or hose.
Never direct the gas flame near the hose, hose reel or tank.
Use regulators for both oxygen and acetylene. Connect oxygen and acetylene intake hoses correctly, following the
manufacturer's safety guidelines. Make sure the incoming pressure does not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 200
PSI.
Locate the hose reel in a well ventilated area.
Check for leaks on a daily basis. If any leaks are found, shut off the valves immediately and purge the system. Have the
equipment repaired or replaced by an authorized service technician.
When installing or replacing o-ring seals, only use silicon as a lubricant. Do not allow any grease or oil on in the connections or
hoses. These materials ignite and easily burn in the presence of oxygen.
Secure oxygen and acetylene cylinders to a cart, a wall or a post to prevent them from falling. All cylinders must be stored in an
upright position. Never strike or drop a cylinder. Do not use dented or damaged cylinders. Cylinder caps must be screwed in
place when moving or storing a cylinder.
3. Avoid exposure to fumes and gases. Work in a well ventilated area and do not breathe fumes. Use mechanical ventilation
systems to improve air quality. Always use an approved respirator.
4. When working with cylinders, always "crack open" the cylinder valves while standing to one side and quickly open and close the
valve to allow gas to escape and to clear the valve of any foreign material. If oil or grease is present, discontinue use of the cylinder
and contact your gas supplier immediately.
5. When attaching your GREEN oxygen regulators to the oxygen cylinder or RED acetylene regulators to the acetylene cylinder,
ensure they are tightened correctly. Oxygen is tightened in the clockwise direction and acetylene is tightened in the counter
clockwise direction.
