Please read through these operating instructions carefully prior to operating the
coffee maker for the first time and store them in a safe place. Pay particular
attention, in your own interest, to the safety information in order to avoid
accidents and malfunctions. Improper use, application or insufficient cleaning
and care can impair safety and result in danger for the user. cilio cannot accept
any responsibility for injuries or damage attributed to improper use.
Safety instructions
· Include this instruction manual with the appliance if it is passed on to other
people.
· If the appliance is used or handled in an inappropriate manner, we cannot be
held responsible for any ensuing damage. This appliance is intended for
domestic use only. Do not operate this appliance outside.
· Start by verifying that the type of current and supply voltage are as specified
on the rating plate.
· Refrain from touching the coffee maker or the power plug when your hands
are wet or moist.
· Connect the device to a properly installed power socket only. Do not use any
multiple socket that is already being used to run other appliances. The plug
and cord must be dry.
· The coffee maker may only be operated when monitored and used for the
intended purpose of making coffee.
· This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children,
unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. Keep the appliance and its
cord out of the reach of children less than 8 years.
· Children shall not play with the device.
· Never operate this device with an external timer or a separate remote control
system.
· Only operate the coffee maker on a level, stable and heat resistant surface
and not in the vicinity of hot stoves, gas flames or other sources of heat as well
as in cupboards.
· Ensure sufficient free space above and near the appliance to avoid
overheating.
· Caution: parts of the coffee machine especially the heating plate become
very hot during operation and retain residual heat after use. Please do not
touch hot surfaces. Do not open the water tank lid during operation, because
hot water vapor can escape! Do not pour water while the appliance is still hot.
Danger of burns!
· Only use the coffee machine with the corresponding coffee pot. Never use
the coffee pot on external heating sources (electric cooker, hotplates, gas
flames etc.) or in the microwave.
· Never use the coffee pot if you notice any damage, the handle and lid are
loose or broken, or the lid does not close.
· Caution: The coffee pot becomes hot when brewing the coffee. Contact with
hot surfaces may cause burns. Please hold the coffee pot by the handle only.
Only place the hot coffee pot on heat-resistant surfaces and, if necessary, use
a coaster. Danger of burns!
· After use clean all parts which have got in contact with food as described
under chapter "Cleaning and care".
· Pull the power plug after each use and:
– in case of faults during operation
– each time you clean the device
Always pull on the plug and not on the cord. Do not allow the power cord to
dangle.
· Check the power cord before every use for damage. Avoid smashing or
kinking the power cord or abrasion on sharp edges or having contact to hot
surfaces or liquids. If the power cord is or becomes damaged, it must definitely
be replaced by the manufacturer, his service agent or similar qualified and
authorized experts in order to prevent hazards.
· Never immerse the appliance, the cord or the plug in water or other liquids.
Do not clean the appliance in the dishwasher.
· Never use the appliance if you discover damage, if water has penetrated the
housing or if the appliance has been dropped.
· Never attempt to open or repair the appliance yourself. In the event of a
malfunction, have the appliance repaired by qualified experts only! Contact
your authorised dealer whenever the appliance is in need of repairs.
· Use original accessories only.
