GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Please carefully read and keep this set of instructions. Please take the technical specifications into
consideration.
- The solid state lasers (DPSS) contain high value crystals. These crystals are particularly sensitive to shocks. Shocks in excess of 50g will result in
power loss and possibly in the destruction of the laser module.
- Any modification carried to the module, for instance modifications on the electronics of the device, the regulator, the casing or the optical speci-
fications (in particular to increase power), will cause the warranty to be void. Modifications carried to laser modules can under certain conditions
cause the power delivered and the length of the wave to differ from the values specified. The original power of the laser can be multiplied and an
invisible infrared beam can be produced.
The manufacturer's warranty will be void if these instructions are not followed.
Due to the specific features of the laser beam and biological consequences, specific safety steps must be taken. In order to cover safety requi-
rements in each case, different categories of lasers exist based on the risk potential. The DIN EN 60825-1 regulation indicates lasers that fall in
categories 1, 1M, 2 (3A in the previous regulation), 2M, 3R, 3B and 4.
Appropriate safety steps must be taken to prevent accidents (BGV B2). The steps below are some of them:
- Do not make eye contact with the laser or direct reflections, even using optical instruments.
- Clear marking of the area where laser is being used with warning signs on approach
- The laser must aim comfortably below or above the eye.
The user of the laser is responsible of putting the appropriate safety measures in place. He must, among other things, check what category the
laser falls into and mark it appropriately.
The staff using 1, 1M, 2 (3A in the previous regulation), 2M, 3R, 3B and 4 lasers or present in an area where category 3R, 3B and 4 lasers are
being used, must be told about the effects of the laser beams and the different safety requirements.
This laser is of category 3A (category 2 in the new regulation) :
meaning it is a laser of average power (<5 mW). Direct eye contact dangerous over 0.25s of exposure or through an optical instrument.
FIRST USE
Before using the laser for the first time, open the battery compartment and remove the battery protection tab.
