before using it, make sure the cable is not damaged or worn out.
If the cable is not in good condition, do not use the appliance;
take it to an authorized service centre.
When tool is used outdoor, only use an extension cable that
is suitable for outdoor use and which is marked for this specific
use. Keep it away from the working area, from damp, wet or oily
surfaces and away from heat and flammable materials.
Avoid any accidental starting: make sure that the power
switch (if present) is in the «off» position, before plugging the
tool in.
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool
on.
Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn the tool on
or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
WARNING
During the use of power tools, some dust containing chemicals
known to cause cancer, may occur. Some of these chemicals are:
lead from lead based paints, crystalline silica from bricks and
cement and other masonry products, arsenic and chromium
from chemically treated lumber and other dangerous products. If
dust is present, your risk from these exposures varies, depending
on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure
to these chemicals, any time you do pulverulent operations,
work in a well ventilated area and work with approved safety
equipment, such as dust masks that are specially designed to
filter out microscopic particles.
If the appliance strikes a foreign body, examine the device
for signs of damage and carry out any necessary repairs before
restarting and continuing to work.
If the appliance starts to vibrate abnormally, turn it off
and check for the cause immediately. Vibration is generally a
warning of trouble.
Always switch off the appliance and wait until the device
completely stops whenever you leave the machine, before
carrying out maintenance, before checking, cleaning or working
on the appliance.
It is forbidden to move or modify any of the internal parts
of the device.
Specific safety rules
Connect the power lead to the mains only with the tool
turned off.
Always turn on the tool before setting it against the piece
you are working on.
Large variations in temperature can lead to condensation
on live part. Before use: give the machine time to adjust to the
temperature of the work area.
Do not use machines, tools and recommended accessories
for works other than those for which they are designed!
Secure the workpiece. Use clamping devices or a vise to
hold the workpieces securely
Do not use the equipment in areas where danger of
explosion exists.
When working: Do not allow the motor to stall under load.
Do not leave keys, spanners and adjusting tools inserted in
the machine.
Use only properly sharpened cutter blades for good cutting
performance and tool care.
Do not run the planer over metal objects, nails and screws.
Use only cutter blades that have been properly checked and are
approved for use at the speed specified on the planer.
While planing, the planer must always lie flat at all points.
Always use both hands to guide the planer.
Move the planer evenly forward over the workpiece to
increase the useful life of the planer cutters and reduce hazards.
Never put your fingers in the chip discharge hole. If the
discharge hole is blocked, pull out the plug and remove the
chips from the discharge hole with a wooden stick.
On completing work do not put the planer down until the
cutter shaft has stopped rotating.
Before using the planer for the first time check the setting
and seating of the cutter blade and cutter shaft.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure that all components are
included. Refer to the drawings on this manual. If any parts are
missing or broken, please call IVT assistance center.

Dust extraction

Dust extraction prevents large accumulations of
dust, high concentrations of dust in the ambient
air, and facilitates disposal.
For long periods of working with wood or for commercial use
on materials that produce dust that is detrimental to health,
the machine is to be connected to a suitable external dust
extraction device.

Initial operation

Always use the correct supply voltage: the power supply voltage
must match the information quoted on the tool identification
plate.
