Low-Voltage Enclosure
HQ-LV21-120
120 V~ 50 / 60 Hz 2 A
Installation Instructions
Please Read Before Installing
Use these instructions to install the model number listed above.
1. Mount Enclosure using one of the following methods
(mounting hardware is not provided):
a. Surface Mount – Use keyholes with bolts sufficient for 100 lb
(45 kg) load, M6 [0.25 in (6.35 mm)] bolts recommend ed.
b. Recess Mount – Use screws sufficient for 100 lb (45 kg)
through the corners of the enclosure. Mount enclosure fully
into the stud bay, with the back flush against the inner wall
surface. Enclosure is 4.088 in (104 mm) deep past cover
mounting tabs. Enclosure cover dimensions are 21.5 in x
15.386 in (546 mm x 391 mm).
NOTICE: This equipment is air-cooled. Mount in a location
where the vented cover will not be blocked. 12 in (305 mm)
of clearance in front of the vents is required.
NOTICE: Power supply will hum slightly and internal relays will
click while in use. Mount in a location where such noise
is acceptable.
NOTICE: This equipment is intended for indoor use only; in a
32 °F to 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C) setting with a relative humidity
less than 90%, non-condensing.
2. Run 120 V~ power wiring into the enclosure.
WARNING — Shock Hazard. Wiring with power on
!
can result in serious injury or death. To avoid the risk of
electric shock, locate and lock supply breaker in the OFF
position before removing terminal shield.
NOTICE: All wiring must be installed in accordance with
national and local electrical codes.
Input terminal blocks are located under the terminal shield.
Remove the terminal shield to access and wire the terminal
blocks. Locations to run power wiring into the enclosure
are shown in Figure 1. Terminal blocks will accept one
18 AWG to 10 AWG (0.75 mm
to 6.0 mm
) wire or two
2

18 AWG to 16 AWG (0.75 mm

Figure 2. Tighten terminal blocks to 3.5 in
lb to 5 in
(0.40 N
m to 0.57 N
m). Do not overtighten.
For increased system reliability, HomeWorks QS processors
can be powered by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
that incorporates surge protection, brown-out protection,
and battery backup. When selecting a UPS, allow 240 V A of
capacity for each processor on the UPS. A single large UPS
for all processors is better than an individual UPS for each
processor. This prevents inconsistent system operation on
battery backup if the individual UPS units power down at
different times. The LV21 does not support housing a UPS.
Installation of a UPS must be done outside this enclosure.
3. Installation Configurations
Processor Configuration (Figure 3) – Installing HomeWorks
QS Processors. This configuration supports installing up to
two HomeWorks QS processors, power supplies to supply
the processor and link devices, and wire landing boards
for wire management. Either processor location can also
accommodate low voltage interface devices instead of a
processor.

a. Install HomeWorks QS Processors.
— Install the processors in the locations indicated in
Measurements shown as:
in (mm)
Figure 3 using the screws included with the processor.
The processor locations are indicated by an orange dot
in the LV21. Peel or puncture the sticker to access
screw holes.
— Torque mounting screws to 19 in
Power Supply
b. Install Power Supplies. The LV21 can accommodate up to
DIN rail
End Stop (5x)
two QSPS-DH-1-60 power supplies that are used to power
the processors and devices wired to the configurable links on
the processor.
+7°
-7°
— Mount the power supplies on the DIN rail assembly at the
18.0
(457)
top of the enclosure as shown in Figure 3.
— Follow each power supply with an end stop terminal
block indicated in Figure 1. Move the end stop terminal
0.312
blocks if necessary. Use the guide label below the DIN rail
(7.9)
as a visual aid.
0.430
— Connect the power cable harness from the Input AC of
(10.9)
the power supply to one of the connectors coming out of
the terminal shield on the left.
0.624
(15.8)
— Connect the power cable from the Output DC of the
power supply to the power input of the processor.
There are multiple options for making this connection
depending on the number of links that require power from
a particular supply.
IEC PELV / NEC
Class 2 ONLY
®
— Connect the black wire to pin 1 (common) and one of the
red wires to pin 2 (P – processor power).
— Connect one or both of the remaining red wires to pins 3
and 4 (L1 and L2) depending on if it is required to power
devices on one or both of the links.
NOTICE: Refer to the HomeWorks QS software to assist in
determining the power requirements for each link
based on the link type and the number and type of
devices on the link.
NOTICE: Any unused wires on this cable should be capped to
avoid accidental shorts.

c. Install Wire Landing Boards. The LV21 can accommodate
Neutral input
up to 5 wire landing boards (QS-WLB) to assist in the wire
management of link cables running into the enclosure.
— Refer to Figure 3 for installation locations of the wire
landing boards. The wire landing board installation
locations are indicated by green dots in the LV21 with
lb to 5 in
lb
text "WLB" printed on them. Peel or puncture the sticker
m to 0.57 N

to access screw holes.
— Use the green WLB label to guide the top left spacer. For
further instruction, refer to the QS-WLB installation guide
(P/N 041295).
— Panel comes with a single packaged WLB.
d. Install Interface Devices. Either processor location shown
in Figure 3 can also accommodate installation of specific
interface devices.
— Refer to the HomeWorks QS software to determine
which products can be installed in these locations.
— Interface devices are typically powered from the
communication link and not directly from the power
supplies in the LV21. RF products cannot be installed
in the LV21.
4. If there are remaining products to be installed in the LV21,
leave this instruction sheet in a safe accessible location.
