Box and GFCI Installation
(Steps A Thru E)
A. Determine which of the round openings will be used for
the supply wiring. Liberally coat the threads on the round
plugs with sealant and install them rmly in the unused
openings (Fig. A).
B. The four small holes in the back of the metal box are for
attaching the mounting lugs. Select the two locations that
best suit your installation and attach the mounting lugs
using the 1/4" long screws. For most metal box
applications, you will mount the lugs diagonally from each
other (Fig. B).
C. Feed the supply wires into the box (Fig. C). Determine if
box is to be mounted vertically or horizontally. Attach the
box to the surface using 1" long screws.
D. Wire receptacle (Fig. D).
E. Push all wiring into the outlet box. Then attach the
receptacle to the box installing the 3/4" pan head screws
provided through the elongated slots (Fig. E).
Weatherproof Cover Installation
(Steps 1 Thru 4)
1. INSTALL WASP GUARD. Determine desired mounting
(Figures 1 & 2). Remove (break-out) knockout from bottom
PORT of base using pliers. Remove protective backing
from adhesive side of rubber WASP GUARD. Position and
place adhesive side on outside of curved rib in open
PORT. Carefully fold WASP GUARD along top surface and
secure to inside of curved rib in open PORT (see Figure 1,
2 & 3).
2. INSTALL BASE TO BOX.
Vertical Mounting (Figure 1) or Horizontal Mounting
(Figure 2).
NOTE: Position BASE with COVER HINGE on top and
open PORT on bottom. Loosen receptacle screws 9/16"
from receptacle strap (see Figure 1, Detail A). Place BASE
keyholes over receptacle screws (Figure 1, Detail B). Make
certain gasket overlaps box edges and tighten screws to
secure BASE.
3. INSTALL COVER. Place COVER onto BASE so that top
HINGE holes align and latch is engaged. Fully insert
HINGE PIN through top hole until it locks in place.
4. TURN ON POWER.
OPTION A: Alternative GFCI installation.
Verify receptacle is centered and securely fastened to box.
Drill out (4) pre-marked holes in BASE using 5/32" diameter
drill (Figure 4). Make certain gasket overlaps box edges.
Insert (4) furnished 3/4" long countersink head screws
and tighten to secure BASE (see Figure 1) (see steps 3 & 4).
OPTION B: Alternative GFCI installation (not pictured).
Verify GFCI is securely fastened to box. Insert (2) screws
(furnished) through top and bottom ROUND holes (Figure 1,
Detail B) in BASE into threaded holes in GFCI. Make certain
gasket overlaps box edges and tighten screws to secure
BASE (see steps 3 & 4).
