Attention

When removing individual pieces pay
attention to which screws are used to fas-
ten these pieces. Keep these screws and
use them corresponding to their original
use when re-mounting.

Before starting work it is necessary to
determine whether the switch for the
heated mirrors will be installed in the
instrument housing or in the handlebar
housing – either is possible and it
depends on the space still available in the
corresponding housing.

Disconnect the battery

Remove the side panels.

Always turn off the ignition and detach the
negative cable
insulate it before working on the vehicle
electric or the fuel supply system.

Remove the seat

Remove the lock washers
Pull out the bolts
Remove the seat

Remove the fuel tank

Warning

The fuel lines are under pressure. For
safety reasons work on the fuel system
may only be done outside or in well-venti-
lated areas. Smoking, fire or open flame
is strictly forbidden during such work –
DANGER of EXPLOSION!
Work on the fuel system may only be done
when the vehicle is cold –
DANGER of EXPLOSION!
Direct contact with fuel and inhalation of
fuel vapors must be avoided –
HEALTH HAZARD!
Remove the lock washers
Remove the fuel tank
approx. 12 inches (30 cm) to the back and place
to one side.
Clamp the fuel lines
with suitable hose clamps

brackets and pull the fuel lines away from the con-
nection fittings.
Disconnect the plug connector
pump, remove the tank and lay it to one side.

Remove the radio and radio well

Remove the covers from the radio and storage
compartment.
