PLANTING
The Salad Box is designed for use with live seedlings/plant starts and our Root Wraps. Do not fill the
net cups with soil, and do not plant seeds directly into The Salad Box. Seedlings/starts can be grown in
plug trays or purchased from your local garden center.
Take the 8 Root Wraps (included) and lay them flat. Make sure your seedlings are thoroughly watered.
Remove each seedling/start from its container (if any), and wrap in a Root Wrap, rolling the Root Wrap
around the plant's roots.
Place each wrapped seedling/plant start into a net cup. Make sure the Root Wraps are touching the
bottoms of the net cups. Try to ensure that the plants' roots are in direct contact with the nutrient
solution. Repeat this process for all eight net cups.
MAINTENANCE
As the plants grow, water and nutrients will be absorbed from the reservoir tray. Never let your plants
go dry! Check the reservoir tray every few days and make sure it has an ample supply of nutrient
solution. Periodically refill the tray with nutrient solution, and fill the top-off bottle with water. Always
mix the nutrient solution according to the chart in this manual.
Always keep the fertilizer packet dry and out of direct sunlight. Do not allow water inside the fertilizer
packet.
The reservoir can be easily drained by removing the drain plugs from the side of The Salad Box. For the
fastest growth rates, drain and replace the nutrient solution every two weeks.
