Inside the reservoir tray you will find four square columns to support the top plate lid and one round
support for the top-off bottle.
Place the top plate lid onto the reservoir tray, leaving a gap on the end with the round support. The
top-off bottle will fit into the gap. Place the net cups into the port holes on the top plate lid. Finally,
insert drain plugs Into the six holes in the sides of The Salad Box.
NUTRIENT SOLUTION
The Salad Box includes a packet of hydroponic fertilizer. This fertilizer contains all of the nutrients and
micronutrients required for plant growth. Always use high quality hydroponic nutrients with The Salad
Box. Traditional fertilizers will not work with this system, as they are intended for soil gardens.
The included nutrients should be mixed at a rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon of water. You can use up to
a full teaspoon per gallon of water, but we recommend that you start with a lower feeding rate.
The Salad Box can hold up to two gallons of solution. Mix the nutrients and water in a separate
container, and then pour the solution into the reservoir tray. Once the tray is filled with between 1.5
and 2 gallons of nutrient solution (fertilizer and water), fill the top-off bottle with plain water. Screw
the cap onto the top-off bottle. Place the top-off bottle over the round support so that the cap is
facing downward, and immersed into the nutrient solution.
