IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE BATTERY CHARGER
Risk of electrical shock, fire, or explosion.
Read all instructions in owner's manual and on charger,
pump, and battery before using battery charger.
1. Unplug the transformer before attempting any clean-
ing. Turning off controls does not reduce the risk of
electrical shock.
2. Charge only rechargeable 12-volt lead-acid batteries.
Other types may burst when charged with this charger.
3. Do not let the transformer or the charger get wet.
4. Use only attachments recommended or sold by the
battery charger manufacturer.
5. When unplugging the transformer from the charger,
grasp the plug (not the cord) to avoid risk of damage
to the cord or plug.
6. Locate the cord so that it cannot be stepped on,
tripped over, damaged, stretched, or flooded.
7. Do not modify the cord or plug.
8. Do not attempt to service the transformer or the
charger; they have no serviceable parts. If the charg-
er is dropped, struck, or otherwise damaged, take it
to a qualified service technician.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Ace-In-The-Hole is not a substitute for your primary
sump pump. It is designed to temporarily back up your
primary sump pump during a power outage or other
problem which prevents normal operation of the prima-
ry pump.
Do not use this system to pump flammable liquids or
chemicals.
Keep the battery charger dry and protected from damage.
Automobile batteries are not designed for this type of
application, eventhough in an emergency (such as an
extended power outage) which depletes the system deep
cycle battery, your automobile battery may be temporar-
ily substituted. Be sure to replace the system deep cycle
battery as soon as possible. Use of an automobile bat-
tery will significantly reduce system performance.

INSTALL BACKUP PUMP
Personal injury and flood hazard. Do not
turn the pump on until all the fittings are glued and the
glue has dried. Loose fittings can explode off of pipes
and cause personal injury and flooding.
Electrical shock hazard. Shock can burn or
kill. Do not make contact with the remaining water in the
sump pit. Unplug the primary sump pump and any acces-
sories such as alarms before you continue. Failure to fol-
low this warning can result in personal injury or death.
Risk of pinching hands or fingers if using a
common discharge pipe. To avoid a hand injury from a
collapse of plumbing, support the pipe above the sepa-
ration before cutting or disassembly.
Risk of electrical shock. Do not lift the
pump by the electrical cord. Lifting by the cord can
damage the cord. Lift the pump only by the discharge
pipe, lifting ring or handle on the pump.
NOTICE: This pump is intended for use in sumps with a
14" or larger diameter. For 9" - 14" diameter sumps,
order Switch Kit number SSSA.
1. Mark the Pump Location - Mark the sump wall or
primary pump discharge pipe 1" above the "ON"
water level of your primary sump pump. The base of
the back-up pump should be no lower than this
mark when finished. See Figure 1.
2. Remove the U-bolts, nuts and clamps from the parts
bag.
3. The backup pump comes preassembled.
4. Position the Ace-In-The-Hole next to the metal or
rigid plastic discharge pipe of your primary sump
pump. See Figure 2.
NOTICE: You may need someone to hold the pump
while clamping it in place. The clamps will fit
around a 1" to 1-1/2" discharge pipe.
5. With the back-up pump in position assemble the
clamps and attach the back-up pump to the dis-
charge pipe as shown in Figure 2.
