ON A 1/2 TON VEHICLE.
1. Remove the 12mm bolt from the bottom side of the end of the frame. Discard the bolt.
2. Place the hitch up to the frame. Install the provided 12mm bolt with conical washers and lock washer into the hole at the end of the frame. See diagram above. Repeat for the other side.
If your truck did not have a 12mm bolt at the end of the frame, install a 1/2" carriage bolt with spacer down through the frame and into the end hole in the bracket. See Figure 2 .
3. Insert 1/2" carriage bolt with spacers into the remaining holes. Install 1/2' conical washers, lock washers, and nuts on the bolts. See either diagram. NOTE: Some models will require that the front
mounting hole be drilled into the frame.
4. Tighten all ½" GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M) and all 5/8' GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 115 Lb.-Ft. (156 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
NOTE: On short beds and extended cab models, the spare tire may need to be relocated.
NOTE: To use the adapter bushing with some 2" weight distributing bars, it will be necessary to sand the corners of the bar to get it into the bushing.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
