7.1 Pre-Use: Prior to each use, the user must inspect the system for any physical damage, wear, corrosion, or missing parts. If the anchor has been
subjected to a fall arrest load, remove it from service. The anchor must be inspected by a competent person at least annually. See Figure 8.
Inspect for:
1)
cracks
2)
fractures
3)
corrosion
4)
bent or broken side plate or connector eye
5)
missing or defective detent pin
6)
check for excessive wear inside the anchor
7)
Ensure the anchor tip is beneath the bottom edge of the railhead when in use.
7.2 Annual Inspection by a Competent Person: An annual inspection by a competent person is required. See Figure 8. In addition to the steps in paragraph
7.1, perform the following checks;
1)
Check for excessive wear inside the anchor.
2)
Measure the anchor opening; ensure it does not exceed the maximum width of 1-1/2".
3)
Measure the wall thickness of the anchor at the indicator arrows shown in Figure 8. Ensure it is within specification.
If routine inspection reveals damage to the anchor, discontinue use and remove it from service.
Record inspection results on the Inspection Record in Appendix A or another suitable record.
8. LABELS
The following label must be present and legible.
