The following defined terms are used throughout this literature to bring attention to the presence of hazards of various risk levels, or to important information concerning the life of the product.
indicates presence of a hazard which will cause severe personal injury,
DANGER
death or substantial property damage if ignored.

A. ADJUSTING PUMPING UNIT
CAUTION
When installing, apply adequate,
fresh, U.L. classified sealant to all
threads and tighten securely BE-
FORE the tank test.
1
Install riser pipe into 4-inch diameter opening. Use approved non-
setting thread sealant. Tighten riser pipe in tank.
2.
Measure distance from bottom of tank to top of riser pipe. See
figure 1.
3.
Remove Extracta from carton. Uncoil pigtail and lay flat so it will
feed into packer without knotting or kinking.
4.
Loosen the clinch assembly fittings, start with the joint closest to
the packer.
5.
Pull pump/motor end until the distance between the bottom of the
manifold and the bottom of the unitized motor/pump (UMP) is 5-
inch (13 cm) shorter than the distance measured in step 2. See
figure 2. Use caution not to damage the pigtail. If unit is to be
adjusted shorter, tension must be maintained on the pigtail to
prevent kinking or damage.
6.
Screw manifold onto riser pipe using U.L. classified sealant while
making the proper alignment of the manifold.
7.
Lock the joint closest to the unitized motor/pump (UMP) first,
torque to 150 FT LB (200 N.m) minimum. Lock the joint closest
to the packer, torque to 150 FT LB (200 N.m) minimum. Using an
18-inch minimum pipe wrench as shown in figure 3 will assure
that adequate torque is applied. See figure 3.

B. FIELD WIRING PUMPING
UNIT
DANGER
ALWAYS DISCONNECT and LOCK
or TAG OUT the power before start-
ing to service the pump.
1.
Remove cover from capacitor compartment.
2.
Pull pigtail wires into capacitor compartment.
3.
Cut wires leaving approximately 8-inch (20 cm) hanging
out of capacitor compartment.
4.
Strip all wires 3/16-inch (5 mm).
5.
Attach yellow (black) wire to yellow (black) wire using
wire nut connector provided. See figure 4.
6.
Attach red (brown) wire to red (brown) wire using wire
nut connector provided. See figure 4.
7.
Attach black (blue) wire to black ( blue) using wire nut
connector provided. See figure 4.
8.
Coil excess wire into capacitor compartment. Replace
capacitor cover, torque to 35 FT LB (50 N.m).
9.
Install eyebolt plug, use approved non-setting thread
sealant and torque to 50 FT LB (70 N.m).
