Smoke Tester
The optional smoke tester tests the efficiency of the heater
unit combustion chamber. For more information, contact
Allmand.

Maintenance

WARNING
Operating or towing a machine with worn, damaged
or missing parts could result in death or serious injury.
Replace worn, damaged or missing parts immediately. Do
not operate or tow this machine until all worn, damaged
or missing parts have been replaced, and the machine
operates correctly.
WARNING
High Current Hazard
Batteries present a risk of high short-circuit current.
Disconnect the black negative (-) battery cable before you
do maintenance. Failure to do so could result in death or
serious injury.
Before you do maintenance, see Safety.
NOTICE Correct maintenance of the equipment is
required for safe operation.
Use the following maintenance procedures in addition to
those scheduled by your shop equipment maintenance
schedule.
Where equipment is operated under severe conditions (very
dusty, extreme heat or cold, etc.), maintenance should be
done more frequently.
Serial Number Plates
Model and serial number information is required for product
support and repair parts. Following are the serial number
plate locations of the primary components.
Trailer
The serial number plate for the heater trailer is located on the
left side of the trailer tongue.
Generator
The serial number plate for the generator is attached to the
front of the generator housing.
Engine
The serial number plate for the engine is attached to the top
of the engine.
Heater Unit
The serial number plate for the heater unit is attached to the
back of the heater unit, to the right of the fan.
Engine Fuel
The diesel fuel used for the engine must be clean and free of
dirt, contaminants and water.
In North America, diesel fuels that meet ASTM D975 for Ultra
Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) are required to be used. ULSD has
a maximum sulfur content of 15 Parts Per Million (PPM) or 15
mg/kg. Diesel fuel must be No. 1-D.
For those countries governed by the rules of the European
Community (EC), diesel fuels that meet EN590 for Ultra Low
Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) are required to be used. Diesel fuels
meeting this standard have a maximum sulfur content of 10
mg/kg.
For non-regulated countries, and for further information on
fuels for your engine, see the engine operator's manual.
Engine Oil
Do a check of the engine oil level daily with the engine
stopped. Keep the engine oil level between the FULL and
ADD marks on the dipstick. Add oil as necessary. Do not
overfill.
When adding or replacing engine oil, use oils with an
API Classification of CI-4, CH-4 of CG-4. See the engine
operator's manual for engine oil viscosities at ambient
temperatures.
Start the engine and bring it to operating temperature. Then
stop the engine and drain with the oil warm to make sure that
dirt and debris flows out with the oil.

Engine Coolant
The unit has a coolant recovery bottle in the engine coolant
system. Keep engine coolant in the recovery bottle between
1/3 and 2/3 full at all times.
