fig.2: connecting the system to a TV via the universal module
- If you not only want to see your visitor on your TV set, but also wish to talk to him/her, you can
connect a telephone set to the universal module via the RJ12 connector.
- By gluing the 4 provided feet to the bottom of the universal module, you can place the appliance
wherever you like. Preferably place it near the TV set, as the length of the scart cable is limited.
Note:
If you connect the telephone to the RJ12 connector, the universal module has to be connected to the
telephone exchange (see user manual splitters and switchers).
2.2. Connection to a monitor (via coax cable)
The following cables are required (not provided):
- UTP cable (color code see fig.1) with RJ45 connectors at both sides
- coax cable with (female) BNC connector on the side of the universal module;
- power cable of the monitor for connecting the screw connector of the universal module (if the
monitor can operate at 12V DC, 300mA);
- optional: telephone wire with RJ12 connectors at both sides
- If the monitor operates at 12V DC (max. 300mA), the universal module can power the monitor via
the screw connector. In this case, the monitor is not continuously live.
- A monitor that only operates at 230V (50Hz) has to be continuously live for the image to be dis-
played. The monitor can be controlled via a N.O. contact. For this purpose, move the 2 jumpers (fig.
3). The N.O. contact closes if there is a video signal and can be used to control an auxiliary relay.
