(contact with or inhalation of the dust may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the
operator or bystanders); wear a dust mask and work with a dust extraction device when connectable
• Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic (such as oak and beech dust) especially in conjunction
with additives for wood conditioning; wear a dust mask and work with a dust extraction device when
connectable
• Follow the dust-related national requirements for the materials you want to work with
• Wear protective gloves, safety glasses, close-fitting clothes and hair protection (for long hair)
• Secure the workpiece (a workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more securely than
by hand)
• When sanding metal, sparks are generated; do not use dustbox and keep other persons and combustible
material from work area
DURING USE
• Always keep the cord away from moving parts of the tool; direct the cord to the rear, away from the tool
• Do not touch the moving sanding disc
• In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction, immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
• If the cord is damaged or cut through while working, do not touch the cord, but immediately disconnect
the plug
AFTER USE
• When you put away the tool, switch off the motor and ensure that all moving parts have come to a
complete standstill WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):
• Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of
the plug
• If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this tool, it must be disposed of safely and not left
unattended

OPERATING INSTRUCTION

(Fig.3)
Speed Controller
With the speed controller (3) you can adjust the speed according to application. Select the appropriate
speed setting and make sure the sander does not become overloaded and stops running.
Turn the speed controller (3) steplessly to the desired setting to increase or decrease the speed. The
controller can be adjusted from 1-6. The speed rate can be changed during operation as well.
Hint: The required speed rate for cutting resp, sanding a workpiece depends on the material that you are
going to process. For best performance, make some practical tests.
Selecting the Sanding paper
Always use abrasive papers suited to the material you want to sand. Then papers must have correct grain
size.
Depending on grain size there are degrees of coarseness. The coarseness is specified by a number on the
back of papers. The higher the number is, the finer the grain.

It is important to use the right paper for each job. For rough sanding use grain sizes up to 80, for soft wood
as larch, pine or spruce use papers from 60grit to 150grit.For dense hardwood as beech or maple, the grain
sizes with up to 220 can be used.
Inserting sand paper
(Fig.4)
Switch off the machine, disconnect the power.
The sanding plate is fitted with a hook and eye system for sanding sheets. This enables rapid application
of new sheets without the need for a tensioning system. Before applying a new sheet, tap the dust from
the hook and eye fastening of the sanding plate. Stretch the sanding paper over the sanding plate (5) and
ensure that the holes (4) of the plate and the disc match up.
Dust extraction
(Fig.1)
Connect the dust collection bag to the dust extraction connector (6). Check the filling level, and empty
frequently. It is possible to employ and external vacuum by using a suitable adapter (ask in shop). Always
work with a dust extraction system connected.
Switching on and off
(Fig.2)
1. Connect the plug to a power socket
2. Switch on continuous operation, press button(2)
3. Switch off continuous operation: press button(2)
Sanding
1. Position the entire sanding surface on the piece of work
2. Switch the machine on and guide it over the surface to be sanded using circular motions. Do not apply
additional pressure to the machine when sanding, the weight of the machine itself is usually sufficient to
ensure optimum revolutions and a good result. Do not tip! Complete several sanding processes using sand
paper that gradually gets finder.
Polishing
1. Apply polish using a cross-coat method and allow drying slightly before polishing. When you have
completed your work, reduce the pressure, lift the machine from the piece you are working on, and then
switch the machine off.
CLEANING AND MAINTANCE
CAUTION! Before performing any care or maintenance work, disconnect from the power.
Use a dry brush to clean the dust extraction openings. Clean the housing with a damp cloth only – do
not use solvents! Then dry well. Remove the dust collection bag from the plastic section to empty. Empty
carefully, try not to create dust. Do not breathe in saw dust! Wash out the bag in cold soapy water and
allow drying.
Before each use, check the machine, the cable and accessories to ensure that they are not damaged. Have
any necessary repairs completed by a specialist.
Machines that no longer function properly should be disposed off correctly in accordance with the local
regulations.

ENVIRONMENT

Do not dispose of electric tools, accessories and packaging together with household waste material -
in observance of European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste of electric and electronic equipment and its
implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must
be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.
