2. Install the Showerhead
NOTICE: Do not use thread sealant compound (pipe dope) on the
shower arm threads. Instead, use thread sealant tape on the shower
arm threads. This will avoid clogging the showerhead spray outlets.
Remove the temporary nipple from the shower elbow.
Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant to the back of
the wall flange according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Slide the wall flange onto the shower arm.
Apply thread sealant tape to the threads shower arm and install
the shower arm to the shower elbow.
Carefully tighten shower arm to the shower elbow with a clean
strap wrench.
Press the flange against the finished wall and secure to the
shower arm by tightening the setscrew.
Remove all excess putty.
With the showerhead off, run hot and cold water through the
shower arm to flush out dirt and debris.
Apply thread sealant tape to the shower arm and thread the
showerhead to the shower arm.
Use a clean strap wrench to tighten the showerhead.
Check for proper operation.
