Intended use
The UL Standard light is designed for:
• Individual connection, or as part of a feed-through
wiring system,
• Internal lighting of enclosures in industrial and
IT applications,
• For indoor use only.
Safety notes
The UL Standard light may only be installed by persons
who have been trained in the correct handling of elec-
trical equipment. These operating instructions assume
that you are fully trained in installation work and that you
are aware of the risks associated with the handling of
electrical equipment.
CAUTION! The UL Standard light is an
electrical product. As such, if used
improperly, there is a risk of death or
serious injury from electric shock.
The following points should be observed in order to
avoid injuries and damage to the equipment:
• The device must never be used in a damp and fl am-
mable environment.
• Never insert foreign bodies into the device.
• Never open the device.
• Disconnect the device from the mains when measu-
ring the insulation resistance in enclosures or parts of
the plant.
• The connector plugs are to be inspected for correct
placement and proper locking before commissioning
of the device.
• An electrical test must be performed after the com-
pletion of the assembly.
• Use only genuine accessories.

• Any connector lines of the device are to be fastened
with the appropriate fi xing accessories, e.g. cable
ties, along the entire installation path.
• The power supply must be checked for proper mains
voltage before commissioning the device.
• Observe the valid regulations for the electrical in-
stallation for the country in which the unit is installed
and operated, the national regulations for accident
prevention and company-internal regulations.
WARNING! Risk of serious injury when
connecting equipment to the lamp's power
outlet – you must heed safety warning.
• Prevent tripping with proper cord man-
agement.
• Make sure to prevent accidental crush-
ing of power cords in closing doors.
If repair work becomes necessary because of damage
to the device, disconnect it from the mains immediately,
and contact Rittal. The following types of damage will
necessitate the repair or replacement of the device:
• A connection cable is damaged.
• Liquid has spilled into the device, or a foreign body
has fallen into the device.
• The device has come into contact with rainwater or
other fl uids.
• The device has been dropped or damaged.
• The device fails to work properly despite following the
operating instructions.
NOTE! The fl uorescent tube contains mercury, and
may therefore require special disposal measures upon
reaching the end of its useful life.
