Before Use

WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Fitting to plunge base
1. Remove from trimmer base, if fitted, and remove any router bit or accessory fitted
2. Unscrew the Tool Locking Knob (11) anti-clockwise in the plunge base so the thread
doesn't protrude into the Tool Mounting (10)
3. Insert the tool into the Tool Mounting ensuring the Spindle Lock Button (6) lines up
with the spindle button recess
4. Turn the tool 10° approximately clockwise to the correct position in the Tool
Mounting
5. Tighten the Tool Locking Knob to secure the tool in the plunge base. Do not over-
tighten the Tool Locking Knob
• To remove the plunge base unscrew the Tool Locking Knob, twist anti-clockwise and
lift out of plunge base
Fitting the parallel guide
• When grooving or chamfering, use of the Parallel Guide (30) will help to ensure that
accurate cuts are made
1. Loosen the Guide Rod Locking Knobs (12, 15 and one other not indicated) so the
guide rods can be inserted
2. Position the two guide rods of the Parallel Guide into the Guide Rod Channels (16
& 19) of the Base Plate (17) and the other two channels on the other side of the
plunge base
3. Position the Parallel Guide at the required length
4. Secure the Parallel Guide at this position by tightening the three Guide Rod Locking
Knobs (see image III).
5. When making the cut, keep the vertical edge of the Parallel Guide held against the
edge of the workpiece
Fitting trimmer base and handle
1. Remove plunge base and any accessory if fitted
2. Release the Quick Release Lever (28) of the handle and insert the main tool into the
Handle Tool Mounting (27) ensuring the Spindle Lock Button (6) lines up with the
recess in the tool mounting and the handle is in-line with the tool body
3. Tighten the Quick Release Lever so it secures the tool body in the handle and the
lever is recessed in the indent so it cannot be knocked in use (see Image I)
4. Release the Quick Release Lever (24) and insert the main tool with fitted handle
into the Trimmer Base Tool Mounting (23). The trimmer base fits to the lower plastic
surround close to the Collet Nut (5) of the tool
5. Tighten the Quick Release Lever securing the tool, ensuring the Lever is recessed )
(see Image II)
• Remove by reversing the fitting procedure
Note: For some work, especially in confined spaces, you may only need the Trimmer Base
without the Handle
Installing a router bit or accessory
WARNING: Wear protective gloves when inserting and removing router bits due to the
sharp edges of the cutters.
1. Press in the Spindle Lock Button (6) and rotate the spindle so that the lock engages
2. The Collet Nut (5) can then be slackened (use the supplied spanner)
3. Ensure the correct size of collet is installed. If it is necessary to change the collet,
unscrew the collet nut completely, change the collet and replace the nut
4. Insert the router bit into the collet, ensuring that at least 20mm, or half of the shaft
(whichever is greater) is inserted into the collet
5. The collet nut can then be tightened using the spanner supplied
WARNING: DO NOT overtighten the collet nut, as this could cause damage to the collet
or the spindle lock.
Note: Each collet is the same size on each end so can be safely reversed .
Note: Do not tighten the Collet Nut with no accessory fitted. This can bend and damage
the collet.
Removing a router bit or accessory
1. Press in the Spindle Lock Button (6) and loosen the Collet Nut (5). The router bit
should now be loose and can be removed
2. If the router bit does not release from the collet, gently tap the collet nut to release
WARNING: ALWAYS keep the collet, collet nut, spindle threads and router bit shank clean to
ensure a reliable and secure fitting.
Connecting dust extraction
• Dust from certain materials can be toxic. Attach a dust extraction system or vacuum
cleaner to the dust extraction port of the Dust Extraction Assembly (18) whenever
possible, before using the router
