ALG 20
Battery charging in closed cupboards, near
heat sources (radiators, bright sunshine),
etc. causes heat to accumulate and will
possibly destroy the device.
If the battery is not going to be used for a
longer period, pull the battery off the bat-
tery charger and pull out the mains plug.
Cover the contacts of the battery over
during storage if it is not in the battery
charger. A short caused by metallic
bridging-over can cause a fire or
explosion!
Do not rivet or screw any name-plates or
signs onto the device. The protective insu-
lation can thereby be rendered ineffective.
Adhesive labels are recommended.
A damaged mains cable may only be
replaced by the FEIN customer service
centre, or specialised repair centres under
contract.
Using accessories that have not been rec-
ommended or sold by FEIN can cause fire,
an electric shock or personal injury.
Only charge Original FEIN batteries.

Damage to property/material
Mains voltage must correspond with the
voltage specifications on the device.
Handling.
Plug in the battery charger without the
battery inserted. The red LED dis-
play (b) illuminates, signalising that it is
ready for use.
Push on the battery.
Batteries with the "Industry" inter-
face (d) can be connected using an
adapter (3).
The green flashing lamp (a) and perma-
nent red lamp (b) signalise that the
charging procedure is in progress.
The end of the charging procedure is
indicated by a permanent green
lamp (a).
If the red lamp (b) flashes, please
observe the following instructions.
Instructions.
The charging procedure is addi-
tionally controlled by a tempera-
ture sensor in the battery pack.
The charging procedure is adjusted to the
respective battery cell type (NiCd/NiMH)
by a special coding.
The temperature sensor in the battery
ensures that fast-charging does not take
place for battery temperatures
below +5 °C and above +40 °C.
If the battery has reached too high a tem-
perature during the previous discharging
process, or if it was stored in too cold a
place (red flashing LED display), the fast-
charging automatically starts as soon as the
battery temperature lies within the charg-
ing temperature range.
In the case of an extreme discharge, the
charging process can be delayed for sev-
eral minutes (red flashing LED display)
after pushing on the battery.
If the battery is not charged despite a nor-
mal temperature, it must be assumed that
the battery is faulty.
Once the battery is charged, the device
automatically switches from fast-charging
to conservation-charging; the green lamp
illuminates. Repeatedly plugging in a
charged battery leads to over-charging
and impairs its service life; this must there-
fore be avoided.
New batteries that have not yet been
formed, or batteries with a very low
charge that have to be re-formed, do not
reach their full capacity until after
3 – 5 charging/discharging cycles.
