SERIE FCS-200
DESCRIPTION
The FCS-200 series consists of 5 switched-mode power supply models available in board
format with power levels ranging from 150W to 200W.
The circuit comprises a line noise filter which reduces any conducted noise generated by the
switching of the power supply unit itself to acceptable levels, followed by a full-wave rectifier
(connected to 220V), which acts as a voltage doubler when connected to 110V. The DC voltage
thus obtained (approximately 300V) is applied to a forward converter stage delivering a
stabilised and mains-isolated output.
The regulation circuit operates in voltage-mode. The primary side of this regulation circuit has a
pulse width modulation (P. W. M.) IC which controls the switching elements (MOSFET). On the
secondary side, an error amplifier is provided, from which data is transferred to the modulator
through an optocoupler, controlling the duty cycle and, thus, the output voltage.
The device incorporates overload and short-circuit protection at the output by means of a
current limiting circuit.
INSTALLATION
There are three connecting options: TERMINAL blocks, FASTON strip and DIN-41612-H15
connector.
The units can be mounted in EUROCARD racks by means of the 4 corner holes or in
standardized PREMIUM box model: NP-9134 (base+cover) or NP-9125 (base). This box protect
the power supply mechanically and provide several mounting options.
STARTUP
Connect the power supply unit directly to the mains, 220/230V.
For operation powered by a 110/115V mains supply, the jumper provided on the PCB must be
shortened with a copper wire of diameter 0.6-0.8 mm (see figure) with all connections made in
accordance with the table.
If several power supply units are to be used in parallel operation, do the following:
• Set the output voltage for all power supply units to ensure that the voltage difference between
them is as small as possible.
• Join the outputs at the load by using wires with a cross-section no greater than the right wire
and of the same length.
For safety reasons, the following requirements must be met:
• An easily accessible mains disconnection switch must be provided.
• When replacing the fuse, use another of the same rating and type, making sure the power
supply unit is isolated from the mains.
• Provide the equipment with some kind of protective enclosure that complies with the
electrical safety directives in effect within the country where the equipment is installed.
• Use a mains connection cable with a cross section of at least 0.75 mm
