Avoid overhead wiring.
When installing indoors, use similar procedures as for
telephones/intercoms. Outdoor wiring should be in PVC if used
below ground or use a burial cable. Use conduit for above-
ground wiring.

Wiring the system

Figure 6:
Terminal configuration.
Figure 7:
Examples of connections.
Figure 9:
Wiring distance for a power supply (m).
Note:
The maximum wiring distance when two or more sets
are connected is the value shown divided by the number of
sets.
Note:
The signal line can be wired up to approximately 1000 m
with AWG22 (diameter 0.65 mm) telephone wire.

Installing the system

Installing a wall-mounted unit (figure 12)
Remove the cover from the unit (1) and detach the mounting
plate (2). Break the grommet on the mounting plate and pull
the wire thorough (3) (plug the opening between the grommet
and the wire with a sealing material.) Secure the plate with
screws. Pull the wire through the sensor body (4) and attach to
the sensor plate.
Once the wiring is completed, adjust the alignment, check the
operation and re-attach the cover. It is not necessary to seal
the unit as it is waterproof.
If surface-wired (5), break the knockouts on the rear of the unit:

mounting plate.
Installing a pole-mounted system with the PB50-PA pole
attachment (figure 10)
Insert two oval countersunk head screws (M4x20) in a pole
bracket (1). Fix the pole mounting plate to the pole with the
bracket. Remove the cover from the unit and detach the
mounting plate. Insert two M4x10 screws in the pole-mounting
plate (2) and fix the sensor mounting plate to them. Continue
as explained for wall-mounted units.
Installing a back-to-back pole-mounted system & right-
angle pole mounted system (figure 11)
Fix the pole-mounting plate for the first PB50-PA unit. Position
the pole bracket of the second PB50-PA unit underneath the
first pole-mounting bracket and fix the second pole-mounting
plate upside down. Continue as explained for wall-mounted
units.
Aligning and operating the unit
See figure 13.

View finder
Supply power to the unit with the cover removed. Set the same
beam channel for both the transmitter and receiver (factory
default is channel 1). To align the transmitter lens to the
receiver lens, position the viewfinder between the two lenses
and look through it. Line-up the optics horizontally and
vertically until the opposite unit is visible.

Continue fine tuning the unit until the receiver attenuation LED
turns OFF.
If the unit is used outdoors, place an attenuation sheet over the
receiver optics and continue fine tuning until the receiver LED
turns OFF. It is recommended to use a tester when doing
adjustments. Confirm the beam level by inserting the tester in
the monitor jack of the receiver. See the table below for
monitor output voltage (1) by recommended beam level for
outdoor (2) and indoor (3) usage. Low readings need to be
readjusted (4).
