Congratulations on your purchase of this high-quality ESYLUX product. To ensure proper operation,
please read these user instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
1 • SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: Work on the 230 V power system must be carried out by authorised personnel only
with due regard to the applicable installation regulations. Switch off the power supply before
installing the system.

Use this product only as intended (as described in the user instructions). Changes or
modifications to the product or painting it will result in loss of warranty. You should
check the device for damage immediately after unpacking it. If there is any damage, you
should not install the device under any circumstances. If you suspect that safe operation
of the device cannot be guaranteed, you should turn the device off immediately and
make sure that it cannot be operated unintentionally.
2 • DESCRIPTION
• The ESYLUX POWERLINE-System EPL is intended for private/semidetached homes,
small apartment buildings and small businesses.
• It comprises sensors and actuators which control electric devices via the building's
own 230 V supply. The technology is based on the high-quality LON standard from
ECHELON
• The sensors are EPL-Transmitters and can be controlled by various switching elements,
such as buttons/switches, thermostats, light barriers, motion and presence detectors,
smoke detector switching relays, wind and rain sensors and macerator pumps.
The sensors transmit the signal via the building's own 230 V supply to the actuators.
• The actuators are EPL-Receivers. These switch, control or dim electric devices such as
wall, ceiling and outdoor lights, roller shutters, blinds, water fountains, circulation
pumps, small ventilators/fans and Christmas lights. As they only consume < 0.2 W,
the EPL-Receivers are also suitable for switching off standby devices (e.g. TV,
satellite receiver).
• EPL-Transceivers are a combination of sensor and actuator and are able to send as
well as receive signals.
• All sensors and actuators are easily connected to L and N and assigned to each other.
This allows the sensors and actuators to be switched to different phases/phase
conductors. Assignment/programming takes place by group and is easily carried out
using a screwdriver (see Activation/Programming). A PC is not required.
The delimitation to other apartments in the building is established automatically
upon activation.
• Thanks to the Gateway EPL-PC you can conveniently manage the ESYLUX POWERLINE-
System EPL using a PC. This allows you to:
- Activate a complete POWERLINE EPL system
- Overwrite rotary and slide switches that have been set using a screwdriver
- Save building data as a file
- Input a graphic (jpg/gif) to enable visualisation of all EPL modules e.g. on the
ground plan of the property
