Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection,
as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
WARNING: Motor vents allow heat generated from the motor to escape the body
of the tool and must not become blocked. Dust, wood chippings and swarf can block the
motor vents and cause the tool to shut down. Swarf, created when cutting metal, can also
cause permanent damage if it enters the tool. Do not allow dust, wood chippings and swarf
to build up. Use a vacuum cleaner to keep the work space clean, especially in confined
areas, and when working with harmful substances.
Switching on and off
WARNING: Allow the tool to reach the required speed before making contact with
the workpiece.
1. Hold the tool firmly by the Handle (5), with the thumb over the On/Off Switch (4)
2. Switch the tool on by sliding the On/Off Switch forward until it locks
3. Switch the tool off by sliding the On/Off Switch backwards
Adjusting the tool speed
• The oscillating speed of this multi-tool can be adjusted using the Speed Control Dial (6)
1. Turn the Speed Control Dial to a higher setting to increase tool speed
2. Turn the Speed Control Dial to a lower setting to decrease tool speed
Note: Adjust the tool speed to best suit the work carried out, and to adapt to material
requirements. Also refer to the accessory manufacturer's instructions regarding tool speed
selection.
Sawing
• Ensure the saw blade is sharp and in good condition
• DO NOT use saw blades that are damaged or deformed in any way
• When sawing light building materials, follow the recommendations of the material
suppliers
• Apply plunge cuts to soft materials ONLY, for example wood or plasterboard.
• If using saw blades not designed for cutting metal, ensure there are no nails or screws
embedded in the workpiece. If necessary, remove embedded objects or use metal
cutting saw blades instead
Scraping
• For scraping, select a high speed setting
• On soft surfaces (e.g. wood), work at a flat angle and apply only light pressure so the
scraper does not cut into the surface
Accessories
• A range of accessories and consumables, including Stainless Steel Sealant Removal
Blade (289416), Carbide-Tipped Saw Blade 65mm (520142), and Multi-Tool Saw Blade

Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any
inspection, maintenance or cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs
should be carried out by an authorised SILVERLINE service centre. This advice also
applies to extension cords used with this tool
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly,
and shorten the machine's service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft
brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the
ventilation holes
• Clean the tool casing with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent. Do not use alcohol,
petrol or strong cleaning agents
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts
Lubrication
• Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable spray lubricant
280W Keyless Multi-Tool
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible
sparking
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an authorised
SILVERLINE service centre
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children

Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer
