Step 3. Set up Your Drive
1. Insert the M M a a x x t t o o r r S S h h a a r r e e d d S S t t o o r r a a g g e e I I I I I I n n s s t t a a l l l l a a t t i i o o n n S S o o f f t t w w a a r r e e C C D D .

2. From the main menu, click I I n n s s t t a a l l l l S S o o f f t t w w a a r r e e .
Click Y Y e e s s when prompted to continue. The software will prepare

to install.
4. From the Welcome screen, click N N e e x x t t . Follow the on-screen
prompts to complete the installation.
5. When the installation is complete, click F F i i n n i i s s h h to restart your PC.
6. Upon restart, Maxtor EasyManager searches for Shared Storage
drives on your network. When found, you will see the Network ID
number and IP address for the located drive(s). For example:
MSS-000338 (192.168.0.5).
N N o o t t e e : : If a message appears stating that "No shared Storage drives
were found" select the C C l l i i c c k k h h e e r r e e button for more information and
a link for troubleshooting tips.
7. Once detected, a window displays informing you that your Shared
Storage II drive has no security password set for the administrative
function. To set a password for the drive, click M M a a n n a a g g e e . This will
launch the Web User Interface (Web UI). Follow the on-screen
prompts in your browser to configure your Shared Storage drive.
8. When finished, close your browser to return to the EasyManager's
Settings screen, and then click the H H o o m m e e button.
9. When the Home screen appears, click on the C C r r e e a a t t e e a a u u s s e e r r
a a c c c c o o u u n n t t button.
10. Choose an account type (P P u u b b l l i i c c A A c c c c o o u u n n t t or P P r r i i v v a a t t e e A A c c c c o o u u n n t t / / H H o o m m e e
o o r r B B u u s s i i n n e e s s s s ), provide the necessary information and click C C r r e e a a t t e e .
The EasyManage™ software will now create the new user account
and the appropriate folders for the account. When finished, a desk-
top shortcut will appear for this user's share.
