Introduction
Already extremely small amounts of water in
the fuel are harmful to the engine.
In order to prevent the supply of fuel contain-
ing water, a water separator / fuel filter must be
installed in the fuel supply to the engine.
The fuel filter (s) installed on the engine only
have the function of filter and do not have the
function of a water separator.
The supplied water separator / fuel filter is
equipped with a sensor and must be connect-
ed to the engine management system.
If the sensor is not connected to the engine
management system, this is indicated by a
warning message on the panel.
If the quantity of separated water exceeds a
certain level, an alarm message is given on the
panel.
The regular draining of the water separator /
fuel filter is very important.
Consult the operation manual supplied with
the motor for draining the water separator
and replacing the filter element.
Installation
Bear in mind the regulations that your local
authorities have imposed regarding the speci-
fication and installation of fuel tanks and pipe-
work.

Install the filter housing against a vertical bulk-
head. Ensure there is sufficient space below the
filter to allow separated water to be drained
off; to render visible any contamination in the
collection basin; and to allow the filter element
to be replaced.
Pay attention to the flow direction. This is clear-
ly marked.
Install the water separator / fuel filter in the
fuel supply line, between the fuel tank and the
fuel lift pump.
Two hose pillars - M16 x 1.5 - with connections
for 12 mm hose and 3 M16 x 1.5 blind plugs
are included.
Connect the fuel lines (supply and return) to
the fuel tank as indicated in the manual sup-
plied.
Connect the sensor to the motor wiring, see
drawing p. 16.
The fuel system is self-bleeding. Start the en-
gine after installation and check the fuel sys-
tem for leaks.
