Safety warnings
for stick welders
Welder's protection equipment
WARNING
• Wear a welding shield to
protect your eyes and face when working with the
welding machine. Double check the shield shadow lens is
the adequate for the welding job.
CAUTION
• Wear leather gloves especially
manufactured for welding as well as hide protective
padding and gaiters.
• Wear clothing made with robust, flame resistant materials
such as wool or hide and long sleeves.
• Use screens or special curtains to isolate the work place
from passersby and to protect them against sparks, flares
and slag originated by the welding.
• Workbenches or tables where the work piece is sitting,
shall have orifices or slots to allow the residues originated
by the welding process to easily pass through.
Electric shocks prevention
CAUTION
• Verify there is a safe connection
in the output and input cables, correctly isolated
and the connections in good repair (double-check and
eliminate any possibility of short circuit).
CAUTION
• Double-check the welding machine is
using a reliable ground connection.
CAUTION
• Do not expose the welding machine to
rain or humidity.
CAUTION
• Keep yourself isolated from the work
piece having your feet on isolated and dry mats.
DANGER
• Under no circumstance touch the two
poles of the welding machine circuit (welding rod and
work piece).
• Do not try to adjust the welding
WARNING
machine voltage when welding.
CAUTION
• Connect the grounded clamp to the
work piece as close as possible to the welding zone to
prevent the current to flow long distances thus eliminating
the possibility of short circuit.
WARNING
• Disconnect the welding machine from
the power source before servicing and when changing the
configuration on the input connection board.
Fire prevention
• Always have on hand a fire
CAUTION
extinguisher in good condition.
• There shall not be flammable or
WARNING
explosive materials in the work area (not less than 36 ft).
Do not carry out welding jobs in places where the
sparks may reach or fall onto flammable or explosive
material.
Health hazards prevention
WARNING
• Vapors and gases produced while
welding are a health hazard. Work in well-ventilated areas
or with adequate ventilation systems.
WARNING
• Do not breathe fumes and gases
produced by the welding process. Keep your head away
from the emissions.
DANGER
• If ventilation is poor use an autonomous
breathing device because the protection gases generated
by the weld may displace air and cause a fatal accident.
• Do not operate the welding machine
CAUTION
near grease remover, cleaners or aerosol containers
because radiation and heat in the welding process may
react with the fumes and generate toxic gases.
CAUTION
• Avoid welding on meals covered with
lead, zinc or cadmium because they generate toxic gases.
Otherwise remove the covering in the welding area and
verify the area is well ventilated or use an adequate
autonomous breathing device.
Accident and injury prevention
CAUTION
• Never allow inexperienced people to
disassemble or regulate the welding machine.
• Double-check both the operator and
WARNING
the welding processes are away from the falling trajectory
of sparks and residue the welding machine originates.
• The welding machine shall be operated in a place
protected from sun and rain away violent from vibrations.
• Store the welding machine in a dry place with no
humidity under a temperature range of 14 °F to 104 °F
• There shall be a 20" space around the welding machine
to allow good ventilation.
CAUTION
• Double -check there is no metal foreign
object is inside the welding machine.
WARNING
• If the welder machine malfunctions
and the problem cannot be solved making the adjustments
mentioned in the Troubleshooting Section take the device
to a
Authorized Service Center.
Under no circumstances try to open the welder machine
cover to service.
WARNING
• The welder machine voltage is always
high. Use caution measures before repairing to prevent
from electric shock.
